   The teaching council and Department of Education have insisted forever that only teachers educated at primary school degree programs can teach in special ed classes. So you want to do special education teaching? All SEN education is post-grad but not essential to teach in special education.

   This needs to change. The skills you need for teaching special education doesn’t come from the relics of didactic and pedagogy. These methods barely teach children in primary education. Bachelor programs in special ed. need to be established.

   The programs need to teach a comprehensive understanding and the theory behind the conditions of students who present with additional needs. The program should teach continuous measurement of learning rather than norm tests every 6 months to a year. The program should focus on a brand new curriculum that focuses on individual dynamic educational goals. It would highlight the need for person-centered compassionate and patient approaches. This is how you train educators for special needs.

   This will result in really high uptake in courses and positions. Filled with those who want them. As opposed to what’s happening now where in some schools they draw straws for special education classrooms. Imagine the negative connotations with drawing the short straw as if it’s some burden.

6. This is why interviewing politicians is so silly. She has basically said nothing here. Even from the start of her answer it was clear she was moving away from an actual answer. She’s not going to answer because she doesn’t have an answer.

   She’ll take her scalding like a bold child, head on home for the day and in a few years she’ll have a pension to fall back on.

   We tolerate this. We will vote it back in and only have ourselves to blame when we do.
