  1. Kinda groaned at this title but then it turns out to be AP, which is usually pretty good at not being full of it.

  2. Yes, we already know how it’s all going. It’s miserable, people will do anything to spin the narrative so they can celebrate the death of Israelis at the Palestinian expense. One thing to be sure if that one is the aggressor in the situation and will now do anything to justify what it’s doing.

edit: Also unfortunately for some reason they don’t appear to be addressing the whole rave party videos, the family killings and videos that appear to be from Hamas. Why aren’t they talking about that?

  3. Gonna list them out since I know people don’t read articles. AP presents 4 claims that have been debunked:

    * CLAIM: Nimrod Aloni, a top general in the Israeli army, was captured by Hamas militants during a deadly incursion Saturday into southern Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip. (He was seen in a meeting on Sunday)
    * CLAIM: A memo shows that President Joe Biden just announced he is sending $8 billion in military aid to Israel. (Doctored image of $400 million memo for Ukraine)
    * CLAIM: A video shows Hamas fighters parachuting onto a sports field before attacking Israeli citizens during the group’s surprise attack on Israel. (video link in the article is broken, but it is described as “showing a bright blue fence around a sporting ground next to a paved area with green and blue plastic seats” which matches a [club in Egypt](https://www.google.com/maps/place/El-Nasr+Sporting+Club/@30.1048068,31.3285201,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipOFo8hNpV_WmUNsRryIi2J4wMbCTH7NNhrsYN3E!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipOFo8hNpV_WmUNsRryIi2J4wMbCTH7NNhrsYN3E%3Dw114-h86-k-no!7i3859!8i2894!4m7!3m6!1s0x1458159301bad8c5:0x82da1efc0d58130b!8m2!3d30.1048068!4d31.3285201!10e5!16s%2Fg%2F1hm2kt4q1?entry=ttu) (open full link to see street-view image) Also the crowd doesn’t seem distressed in the video. Also the footage has been online since Sept. 27, posted originally with the tag “Egypt”)
    * CLAIM: Two videos show Russian President Vladimir Putin warning the U.S. to “stay away” from the latest Gaza war. (months-old clips of Putin speaking about Ukraine-Russia war, false captions)

  4. The ability to deepfake images and voiceovers is out of control. So is the ability to fake or doctor footage I guarantee most people are going to struggle with this. I’m taking more time to confirm sources and still get duped.

Unfortunately, I think the effect this will have is that more people will just tune out of the news much as they’ve already done. Over time this will just exacerbate the misinformation problem. I’m supposed to trust an AI or new technologies to tell me if the image I’m seeing is real? This is a slippery slope into a propaganda nightmare. I’m genuinely concerned now.

  5. The fact that infant children were massacred, yet some people are more concerned whether their heads are still attached or not is appalling.

  6. Claim: Israel is committing genocide on the entire population of Gaza

    Result: True

6000 r/worldnews comments: haha Hamas fucked around and is finding out

Edit: keep downvoting fuckers, you’re on the wrong side of history if you support this shit. 2 million people locked in, no food, water, or exit. Bombs falling indiscriminately.

  7. > CLAIM: A memo shows that President Joe Biden just announced he is sending $8 billion in military aid to Israel. (Doctored image of $400 million memo for Ukraine)

This one is strange, because I thought the “talking points” are that Dems are anti-Semite and supporting Palestine, except that the Dems President Biden is giving huge military aid to Israel at the same time, but I digress, logic and thinking aren’t the strong suit of those people who believe in this shit.

  8. The internet has officially killed truth and it’s bleeding out and there will be no saving it.

Digitized media and reporting was a huge fucking mistake.

Just look at the reporting about the $8billion in aid from the US and how an official document to Ukraine was just barely changed by some piece of shit and then how quickly it circulated online as though it was real.

We need to go back to news being trusted because it’s garnered by different methods.

  9. How about the news about killing/beheading of 40 children, which was retracted by the journalist who made that claim?
