I won’t lie, the headline made me think of medieval catapults lobbing WW2 bombs or troops.

Archaeologists digging up stuff 30 years older than me kind of makes me feel old.
There’s a whole backstory to the Harwell catapult pit that’s not mentioned here. It was used in the 50s as a convenient hole in the ground to bury radioactive waste in. The waste was removed in the early 2000’s
That’s awesome.. and there’s a space innovation scheme partially run from the satellite centre at Harwell called [Catapult](https://sa.catapult.org.uk) which makes a lot of sense now.
