I am a dual citizen in USA and Norge (25,m), but my Norwegian passport expires in December 2024. The Norwegian consulate said I need to submit a written document stating my reasoning for renewal since I missed the renewal period at age 22 (was not aware of this rule). Since my passport is still valid the consulate said I should have a good chance of it being renewed as long as I make a strong case for it.
For context: my mother is from Oslo. Her two sisters (my aunts) and several of my cousins live in Oslo. We have 3 family cabins in Reinli that I’ve visited over the course of my life many times. We have tons of pictures of me visiting family to tie my lineage back to Norge that I will include in my document (consulate recommended), but was wondering the best way to word the document and how I should frame my reasoning as to why my citizenship should be renewed.
If anyone has gone through this process before or has any advice I would greatly appreciate it as I would be devastated if I cannot get my citizenship renewed. (Photo attached is me and my Morfar at our cabin)
