Here is a radical idea, lets nationalise the energy network and that way we don’t need to think about suppliers having rampant profits and leaving the market when profits aren’t sky high anymore.
Alternatively not post record profits and dividend to shareholders.
£17? Is that per year, month, day, kWh?
Either way got to fund the energy companies shareholders parties.
“People can’t pay their energy bills and so there’s a massive energy debt building up, how can we tackle this?”
“Let’s put bills up!”
Some fucking big brain thinking from Ofgem on this one.
2021 “We’re making record breaking profits”
2022 “we’re making record breaking profits”
2023 “ umm we need more money”
Perhaps a windfall tax on energy producers excess profits which could then be ploughed in lowering energy bills for consumers and business. This would help people with the cost of living crisis, and also help business with costs. This would also help lower inflation.
But Sunak doesn’t want this so high inflation and costs for all!
How about let them go bust.
What the fuck is out standing charge still at ridiculous levels for?
So do this to avoid them going bust, but will likely create more debt which people can’t pay… which will make them go bust. Genius.
And after this price hike, ……having to watch these companies and their investors have a bumper year with billions of profit and champagne for all!! While I can’t even afford shyt!!
Energy bills have tripled and energy companies are making record profits, but they need your help… Just fuck off. Nationalise it all.
How about putting it back in public hands, f private energy.
Whilst the big 5 rake in eye watering profits, you realise the bottom half are suffering but luxury goods are flying off the shelves and the rich are richer then ever! Ffs Truss with massive support from current people in power – Jake Berry half the cabinet cut the top rate of tax, and the regulations limiting banker bonus’s. They reversed the tax cut because they were forced to when our markets crash as a result, but the bankers kept their high bonus’s because ‘ we need to attract top talent ‘ strange that doesn’t fly with the NHS, teachers, or any public workers! Only bankers!
How about we nationalise vital services like energy and water so that we’re spending money on that instead of making sure directors of companies don’t lose their money maker
Surely letting them go bust would be a good thing? The government could set up a nationalised energy company and anyone using an energy company that is going bust would automatically be switched to the government run company. This way there would be a company where 100% of the money raised would go to actually fixing and upgrading the network.
Obviously this isn’t realistic because why would our government want to help reduce the amount of fuel poverty in the country
Also in the news: E.On’s UK profits more than double in the first half of 2023.
How!? They’re taking the piss now. Fuck it, I’ll freeze.
Seems the answer to everything these days is to increase the cost us
We really need to have some sort of nationalised energy production, at least then the government would be turning a profit haha.
