  1. Lidl is an expensive supermarket in Cyprus and even more expensive in Romania.

Check the prices before giving them your hard earned cash.

  2. >” — throughout its supermarkets in Germany”

    No mention of other countries.

  3. So, is this to their own financial detriment/loss, or did they just admit that vegan food prices were hiked up until now ?

  4. That’s great. I never understood how vegetarian products were always twice or thrice the price of meat products.

While the energy input needed for meat products is magnitudes more.

  5. now fix the de facto slavery in meat packaging plants and sell meat without subsidizing its price by worker pay.

  6. But it’s lidl anyway, they sell the cheapest, most processed shit possible. Unless you really can’t afford to shop anywhere else, you should avoid their poison.

  7. So they reduced their prices with the producers by 25 percent?

  8. Hol up, how can vegan products cost more than the original meat in the first place?!

  9. How the hell were plant-based options ever more expensive than meat in the first place? That doesn’t make any sense

  10. Cool but the actual quality of the Lidl vegan meat alternatives I’ve tried has been pretty dire, like I’m not a grocery snob but this is one area where I’d say the name brands are worth it.

  11. Price dropped because demand dropped. The wider public two or three years ago were more intrigued by this kind of product because it really was something new at the time, and the prices reflected that widespread interest. Now the whole thing has lost steam and it remains to be seen what kind of niche this product is going to occupy going forward

Look at the stock prices for companies like Beyond Meat if you’re curious about general trends in this space
