Just build more roads, simples…
We need more bulk capacity and we cancel the project that would supply this.
Maybe add other train lines that won’t just use the HS2 specific line or build more roads.
Population is growing and more vehicles are on the roads each year. UK still has the road network from 1800s let alone the rail network from 2000BC.
But I thought HS2 was only about saving 8 minutes of time from Manchester to London? Did the green lobby lie?
does this count as a war on cars, is traffic and gridlock the main sellng point of car ownership?
Don’t worry the money from HS2 ‘COULD’ pay for improvements to roads…

Free roads are bullshit. If we’re not going to build a good alternative, can we at least use the price mechanism to allocate scarce resources efficiently?
