Other nations in Europe have done away with their smallest coins – why don’t we?
When the ½p was demonetised in 1984, it had the same buying power as nearly 2p in 2023.
I’m going to go against the other comments here and say I actually really like these.
I think they’re quite refreshing – I like the asymmetry, and the theme of animals and plants.
Not that I’m ever going to see one, though. Can’t think of the last time I handled coins.

Do we think these will be the last batch of coins released before we go full digital?
Doesn’t show the flip side is he wearing the crown? Cos he isn’t on new stamps and it’s looks abit weird.
I really like these, I might even stump up for a set in a nice presentation folder or something.
