Never start vaping, says 12-year-old girl with lung damage

  1. I’ve seen this story a few times today and each time I feel it’s very generous to the mother. With it being explained that the mum searched her when she gets home but then in the next breath says the child goes to sleep with a vape in her pillow.

Addiction is tough but she started at 9 years old, this was absolutely the parents role to curb this.

You can’t be an absent parent and expect the rest of society to pick up the slack. Yes the shops should never have sold them to her. Yes the school could have done more but the bottom line is that the parent should have noticed and even before this fostered behaviour that would make the child less vulnerable to peer pressure. They should have taken their child’s health more seriously when they were bad at using their inhaler.

  2. Not only was the mother failing to prevent her vaping but the doctor said her asthma was ‘poorly controlled’ which usually means the parents aren’t making sure the kid takes their inhaler. On top of this she had a chest infection.

Asthma sufferers who aren’t taking inhalers usually end up in hospital with chest infections especially children.

    Sniff sniff I smell shite..

  3. Funny how all the scare stories come after the push for bans, not before.

  4. Vaping from the age of 9 and now doing the lung exercises an 80 yr old would do at the grand old age of 12! Would this not come under child neglect?

  5. Kid was way under age to be using non-medical inhalants, had lung diseases such as asthma to a severe level, had a chest infection upon passing away.

But yes. Blame vaping. That makes perfect sense.

the headline here reads like vaping is the issue.

No. Kids vaping is an issue, parental neglect is an issue. And severe asthma with an infection is an issue.

    Meanwhile:

I’m 7 years smoke free, I vape and have regular check ups, I feel healthier than ever.

  6. She could have just as easily become addicted to alcohol or cigarettes and suffered organ damage, let’s see the brigade come out to ban that

If shops are illegally selling to minors then the police need to crack down on it, but street level enforcement has become non existent these days so instead it’s apparently parliaments role to ban things instead

  7. That’s nothing, only this morning i was waiting at the bus stop and when a 6 year old turned to me and said “never start doing meth”. I was taken back. How dare a 6 year old tell me what to do!

  8. While more needs to be done to stop people selling vapes to kids and tackling the packaging design of vapes, much more needs to be done to educate everyone on the harms associate with vaping. It being less harmful than smoking does not make it safe, especially for kids whose lungs are still developing. We teach kids about the harms of smoking and drinking; the same needs to be done with vaping nowadays.

  9. Wow more like a warning against having shitty parents.

  10. Don’t walk up stairs, says 87 year old after heart attack

Seriously, what the fuck is this?
