It would help if you’d all stop being a bunch of fascist see you next Tuesdays.
Join team Hakeem.
Who have repeatedly said they are united behind Jeffries. So good luck with that.
“You see, the way it works is the train moves – not the station”
Just get 5 moderate Republicans from swing districts to switch parties and vote for Jeffries. Promise DNC will support their run for reelection next year as Democrats.
Hakeem would be great, but I bet they could get sorry behind some of the Republicans in districts that Biden won. I think there are like 10 of them.
Democrats should refuse to support any GOP speaker that says the election was stolen.
Good luck. They’ve pretty much spit on the democrats’ faces with McCarthy’s exit, which they tend to do often.
The irony that MAGA’s squad is going to end up unintentionally bring back bipartisanship governance.
This is a good opportunity to elect a moderate repub (are there any left?) or dem. Use this to try and show how we can work together if we try to meet in the middle somewhere.
I hear there is a pampers special going on
Well why don’t they just run a moderate repub . . . oh. Right.
This is also the reason that the radical right wing of the Republican party has managed to bully the other parts of the Republican party.
Here’s how the negotiating goes:
MAGA Rs: We want the craziest and most radical R to be the speaker.
Other Rs: That seems like a bad idea — here are some candidates who are still very conservative but who are at least slightly less insane.
MAGA Rs: Nope, you give us who we want or we’re not working with you.
Other Rs: That’s not how compromise works.
MAGA Rs: Oh, it’s not, is it? So what are you going to do, work with Democrats instead?
Other Rs: Oh of course not, we would never work with Democrats. That would be sacrilege, and —
MAGA Rs interrupt: Okay then, it’s our way or the highway.
In short: as long as the supposedly “moderate” Republicans refuse to work with Democrats, the MAGA Republicans will just walk right over them. The one negotiating chip that moderates are supposed to hold in their pocket is that they could work with the other party, but in today’s Republican party, working with Democrats on basically anything is considered treason.
Completely real head of hair.
What would a power sharing agreement look like? Dems could always bring something up for a vote? Historical precedence somewhere?
Hakeem Jeffries hears you loud and clear Rep. Rogers. It will only take 8 members of the GOP to elect a sane Speaker of the House, tomorrow.
This is the guy who had to be pulled away from Gaetz by his face in January, and he *still* somehow seems more reasonable than others in the House.
As a democrat: I hope you get 0 votes.
How about NO. Get your shit together. Maybe (probably not) had My Kevy not rolled the Sunday circuit and blamed the democrats they may had some sympathy for your completely dysfunctional party. It’s sort of impressive that you haven’t run out of rakes to step on.
Seems it would be easier to get 5 Republicans to vote for Jeffries than to get 20 Democrats to vote for your strongest candidate there, Mike. We await your decision…
Give concessions.
A whole ass budget, and Ukraine aid would be a nice start.
If this was Nancy Pelosi’s speakership…would any republicans (including Mike Rogers) vote for her???
I will wait.
I think it’s very important to note, because the media won’t do it, that Pelosi had about the same voting margin when she was Speaker, and she got a lot of things done with no drama. That’s the difference between being a leader, and saying things to get on Fox.
Thanks for posting the article. The Republican congressman calling other Republican congressmen “traitors” is funny. So is the idea that Dems should help Republicans save themselves.
You broke it, you fix it.
What’s that word again? I think it began with a B…

Fuck it nevermind this is hard
“Help us out of the situation we created for ourselves, by ourselves.”
They need to be saved from themselves. They’re a total shitshow.
boy is that a wig?
It won’t be the 2 being considered now.
Democrats are the only ones who get things done, republicans are useless.
This is a setup for Republicans to blame Democrats for what comes next.
Would Republicans vote for a Democratic Speaker? Hell no!
Mccarthy is on the outs *because* he worked with Democrats.
While Republicans *would never ever ever ever* vote for a Democratic Speaker, they **WILL** villainize Democrats for not voting for a Republican Speaker.
*Do as we say! Not as we do!*
Screw that!
Democrats just need to get some popcorn — sit back — and watch the GOP self-destruct.
Time for some hands-off tough love. The GOP needs to take responsibility for the mess they created.
As a democrat… I’m fucking sick and tired of carrying republicans through their own self inflicted dysfunction. Like… they need to get a grip. I don’t agree with a lot of the shit Nancy Pelosi got away with, but at least she allowed and enabled our government to relatively operate.
While I’m on my soapbox… I *told* my brother years ago the GOP was on this trajectory. He laughed in my face, and when I brought up MTG, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, or anyone from the whole ensemble, he always told me, “don’t worry! They are on the fringe, no one takes them seriously”. Only later we had to witness them taking ridiculously high positions of leadership with high media coverage to boot; also, come on, Jim Jordan?!? How did we get to this point where these clowns are the big names in GOP circles. It’s also shameful to me that they are only NOW targeting Matt Gaetz publicly for the sex trafficking/relations with a minor stuff and also George Santos’s for blatant dishonesty and criminal activity… only because they know they aren’t towing the line.
I am beginning to utterly lose faith in the functioning of our government. The worst part for me personally, is that it feels like some people are willing egging on its demise.
I would absolutely love it if Hakeem becomes speaker thanks to Gaetz ousting McCarthy, hahaha
Won’t happen, but 6 Republicans could work with Democrats to elect Jeffries.
Republicans need democrats to solve their petulant problems. Pass. Vote Jefferies
Why is everything on the democrats? Republicans control the house but its somehow up to democrats to save them.
If Republicans can learn to work together in their own party they should give up power and hand it over to the democrats
Centrist republicans if they exist should vote with democrats to pull their party away from the maga idiots
As per usual, the democrats have to come and save this country from the republicans
