Israel fordert die UN auf, den nördlichen Gazastreifen innerhalb von 24 Stunden zu evakuieren

  1. I can’t imagine the logistics of evacuating 1,000,000 people in 24 hours. Sounds like a ground invasion is imminent.

  2. Meanwhile Hamas is telling the Palestinians to ignore these messages. Israel actually cares about Palestinians’ lives much more than Hamas do. For Hamas the Palestinian civilians are simply another strategic tool. Their lives’ worth for Hamas probably are pretty much equal to the worth of a rocket, a hand grenade, or a rifle.

  3. to put some context, this means that ~600-800,000 people have to travel ~15 km south to the central and south parts of the strip. This is in accordance with international law, in an attempt to avoid civilian casualties.

  4. I really hope the civilians have the time and resources to seek refuge. What an insanely terrifying historical time. I feel sick for the innocent civilians of Israel and Palestine suffering due to Hamas.

  5. Are they saying for the UN themselves to evacuate or for them to help evacuate the northern Gaza?

  6. I can only imagine this is going to be a very dark 48 hours. Praying for the innocents on both sides who have and will soon perish in the name of this conflict, unnecessarily

  7. In what world can 1 million people evacuate somewhere in 24 hours? This is insanity.

  8. They’ve been bombing non stop for nearly a week. Ground invasion incoming

  9. As tragic as this is (and make no mistake, evacuating 1 million people out of the city will cause a tremendous amount of human suffering), if Israel’s goal is to destroy all Hamas infrastructure, stockpiles, tunnels and bunkers and not draw things out, this is the way to do it. The alternative of a mass ground invasion into a fully populated city would be akin to fighting the Battle of Fallujah but with a million civilians mixed in the line of fire.

  10. This is all in Hamas. Hamas is the enemy of Israel, of the Palestinian people, and the enemy of all humanity.

  11. >…notify Palestinians living north of Wadi Gaza that they should evacuate to the southern part of the Gaza Strip in the next 24 hours.
    >
    >More than 1 million Palestinians live in this area.

So evacuate half the population of Gaza to the other half of Gaza, which has no facilities or supplies to take them, within 24 hours.

  12. That’s all of Gaza City. This is gonna be a slaughter. Logistically impossible

  13. What a crazy fuckin task they have. They’ll have no clue who the enemy is and who the civilian is.

  14. Currently watching the news and they are attacking now!

  15. Some part of the article seem to suggest UN has just been told to get its personnel out of the war zone and just warn the civilians.

Unless UN actively helps in the evacuation no way that is going to work.

Imagine the logistics of moving that many people from one part to the other – even in the best conditions.

Then consider that there’s no power, no fuel, no clean water, probably by this time no food.

No roads that haven’t been bombed. No fuel for vehicles.

Even if Hamas just stands by and lets their human shields escape, it won’t work without outside help.

  16. How are they sure they won’t be taking out the hostages? I understand they cannot negotiate with terrorists and they need to eradicate Hamas, but I cannot help but feel horrible about the hostages and Gazan civilians that’ll get caught up in this.

  17. Way more aerial bombardment is imminent. With the photos and videos being released of Hamas shooting and burning babies, the gloves are coming off.

  18. So if you’re a citizen there and you hear this, what do you do? Just run? Where do you go? It’s terrifying

  19. I mean, this is in accordance with international law. It does show effort to avoid civilian casualties. I think all the criticism of Israel regarding these events ignores and forgets Hamas’ original attack and history of attacks.

Like, what happens if Israel does nothing? How do people think they should respond? Civilians are gonna get hurt and that sucks, for both Palestinians and Israel, but Israel has been forced into a corner where action is necessary in some regard.

Also something that boggles my mind is the fact that some of the people who are saying that evacuating 1 million people is impossible (which it damn well is) are also the people who want Israel to stop existing. If you think evacuating 1 million civilians from North to South Gaza is a logistical nightmare— imagine the logistics nightmare of a refugee crisis caused by Israel ceasing to exist.

As pro-Israel as I am, I do hope the IDF and UN can minimize casualties with this operation. Israel’s track record is not the best with these sorts of things and the news is gonna be negative towards this ground attack no matter what, but I hope Palestinian families can stay safe and their loss of life and property is minimized.

  20. Dude how the hell are you gonna move 1 million people in 24 hours…

Jesus man I’m a Muslim it’s just horrible to watch both sides kill each other, it’s just gonna get worse and worse

  21. After witnessing Hamas’s war crimes in fast motion, we are now witnessing a war crime in slow motion. 2 million people are either going to be expelled or decimated.

Five years from now a lot of people will be claiming they never supported this – the same people who claimed they never supported the Iraq invasion – and just like the Iraq invasion, this will have horrible long-term effects for almost everyone, but especially Israelis and Palestinians.

Hard to imagine anyone sleeps better after a ground invasion of the Gaza strip. This is Iwo Jima in 2023. Or Stalingrad. Or whatever horrible thing.

Violence is its own reward. Impossible to tell this to people involved in a violent conflict, but it is true. We get violence until someone can’t take it anymore – until they regroup.

This is not victory, this is a nightmare. There is no point in cheerleading for any side because everybody will suffer.

What a disaster for humanity. Shame on all of us. 9-12 million people and we have never brokered a permanent, just deal. Fuck us all. We used both sides for our own short-term gains and now they are suffering for it.

  22. Force everyone South and secure the North. Set up a controlled border/checkpoint. Allow women and children to move back north, and then allow men before Israel clears the South. Honestly, if this is what Israel is doing, it’s the best solution I’ve heard thus far (allowing Israel to get Hamas while avoiding as much collateral damage as possible.

  23. Just going to pontificate the obvious here, but this will end poorly for everyone involved. Time will reduce perception to facts and no one will like what we all have to see.
