Punishing civilians based on their nationaluty, religion or race is terrorism and its against geneva convention.
It is either that or having intense street-to-street fighting taking place around them. While tragic, they get to flee the brunt of the fighting.
As horrible as the Israeli tactic is, they really have only two choices:
1. Let Hamas be (which is probably not something they’ll do after 7/10).
2. Invade and meticulously sweep the Strip of Hamas infrastructure and operatives (which will be a massacre if civilians are present along the front line).
There have been no fewer than 3 major wars since the disengagement in 2005, and another 4 or 5 major flare-ups. Limited wars never worked.
Israel is about to cleanse the land in old testament style and it seems like most people are cheering for that. Everyone seems to forget the complex history of how we got here and why such tragedies are occuring in the middle east on monthly basis since the ottomans got kicked out.
Yes, this war is going to be a humanitarian nightmare, and it is Hamas’ fault. If Hamas did not cynically use their own civilians as human shields, they’d have never been in the line of fire in the first place.
An armed invasion and occupation is the only way that Hamas will be rooted out, and have any chance of being destroyed at this point, and Hamas are purposefully putting their own civilians in the line of fire in order to drum up sympathy and turn sentiment against Israel.
To the people who think this is unacceptable, I have an honest question: is there no line that you think a nation can cross before violence of this scale is permissible to be used to defeat them?
Was the allied bombing and invasion of the Nazi empire unjustified? Strategic bombing alone killed between 350,000 and 500,000 German civilians, and the Nazis weren’t even using civilians as human shields. Should the allies have just pushed Hitler out of the countries he invaded, return things to the original borders and then let Nazism continue to fester in Germany and Austria for the next century? I’m very glad that wasn’t what was done.
Terrorists of both sides are committing horrible crimes since Israel was formed and took most of the Palestinian territory in less than a hundred years.
Israel is supported by many western countries but doesn’t act like a western country.
Maybe they could give back those/some of the occupied territories.

1.1M in 24h with no form of electronic communication (internet, electricity…). Sounds like the warning is just for the show. Hamas should be deal with, but I fear that the civilian death toll is just going to go up and it’s already pretty high.

You can’t accuse the state you’re occupying of terrorism and then turn around and basically say you’re going to massacre over a million civilians unless they perform an impossible evacuation on a ludicrous timescale. Unless you’re Israel of course, then half the world acts like you’re a monster if you question it. Hamas deserves to be lambasted for their attack. Israel declared war on them though, so it looks like they’re planning on racking up some major war crimes here.

I don’t buy the notion that 2.3 million people cannot take down 50k Hamas fighters. As long as Hamas is in charge, the rest of Gaza is in it. So take responsibility. Take them down or go down with them.
Of course people will cry civilians aren’t supposed to fight soldiers. Well, the Israelites that defended their villages didn’t give a thought about such principles either.
They just openend fire on Hamas as best as they could and damn the consequences and odds of survival.
Israel will lose international sympathy if they do this.

Palestinians there paraded captured civilians and celebrated the terrorist attacks that caused +1300 dead (so far). These are the same people that join extremist organizations and provoke civil wars or commit terrorist attacks on European and Arab soil.
Go ask Egypt why it doesn’t open up its border or why no other fellow Muslim country is accepting them.

Wouldn’t it be a good idea if Egypt finally opens their border? Israel understandably won’t do it, so it is Egypt’s duty.
