The ONLY reason for smuggling through land or sea (in Europe) is the caused by the EU creating contradictory laws.
* it is legal to apply for asylum for ANYONE in ANY country
* you have to be at the border of the country or inside the country to do so
* EU does not allow travel to countries without VISA even if the travel is just to apply for asylum
This is completely stupid and contradictory, this is the only reason people have to sneak into the EU illegally to apply for asylum.
Solution would be to enable people to apply for asylum from 3rd countries, so they don’t come to Europe unless they actually get the asyl.
The old Dublin Regulation was stupid and didn’t work, they new ones are sabotaged by Hungary and Poland.
A country who signed the 1951 Refugee Convention MUST review the individual refugee applications fairly, if a country does not want to follow the 1951 Refugee Convention anymore they can do so, but that pretty much means rejecting basic human rights… so they are out of the EU obviously.
Also, the number of people requesting asylum should be reduced, the best way is to reduce the misinformation in Africa by destroying Russia economically and politically ASAP.
