How the hell is there not an ambitious moderate republican willing to work with the dems to become speaker? It would be risky but if you could show the nation you are an adult that can work across the aisle, you put yourself in line to become president in the future. The half dozen republicans that would have to support this would be able to get their districts whatever they wanted. The moderates just need to get more aggressive and kick the MAGA assholes to the curb and work with the dems to fix the mess.
“Traditional Republicans” are just Republicans who do their extremist scheming behind closed doors besides making it their entire campaign and platform.

This is the smart move, and honestly what I’ve been confused hadn’t been seeing more discussion publicly – try to get anyone frustrated with the extremists to vote with the Democrats. Even if it’s just for electing a less crazy member of their caucus there’s a genuine potential here to split the Republicans.
