6. That is the remaining risk of hiding in ditches, craters and trenches: As long the shell explodes outside of where you are, you are fine. If it explodes in the same place, you have less chances to survive than as if you were in the open, where a larger part of energy and shrapnel goes above your head. In particular craters are known for this effect.
