Did you post your phone number on the wall of a toilet cubicle perhaps?
Not out of nowhere. Been like this for years for me.
Are you on Lyca mobile?
I don’t get that many but when I do they tend to come in clumps. Presumably someone you have given your data to has just recently sold it on so you’re now on various lists. It will probably slow and stop next week.
Someone might have signed you up for them
If you keep answering it’ll keep them coming. My motto is “if it’s important they’ll leave a message!”
Possibly responded to a scam text (lots of redelivery ones going around, since lots of people shop online these days) or email etc – once they think they have a “live one” they’ll be all over you
You’ve not listed anything for sale on Gumtree have ya? That place is the worst for getting spam calls
Nope. But loads of texts from IT “recruiters” about their great job opportunities. I don’t work in IT. I struggle to use my phone.
Yep.
First one which I did accidentally pick up was a robotic voice which mentioned something about the Chinese embassy.
The Chinese scammers are really ramping it up this week apparently
I was when I was on O2 but Ive just switched provider and they appear to have stopped – though oddly my number is the same. I have to answer them but pretend I can’t hear them and they hang up. Think they black list me lol.
Had a few whatsapp spam this week, first for a long time
Sign up to the TPS preference service – just Google it because I can’t share links here.
It notes your number on a registering as not wanting unsolicited sales or marketing calls.
Organisations are legally required to not call any numbers that are on it.
It won’t stop the calls completely, especially when you’re targeted from call centres abroad/scammers. But it definitely helps.
What Nick Cave song are you listening too?
I’ve had this a few times, especially when I’ve advertised something on eBay or gumtree and attached my number, so I stopped doing that.
