  1. A teacher has been killed and two people have been seriously injured in a knife attack at a school in France, officials say.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said the attack happened at the Gambetta high school in the northern city of Arras at about 11:00 local time.

The attacker has been arrested and is now in custody.

According to witnesses, he shouted “Allahu Akbar”, or “God is greatest”, during the attack.

The person killed was a French language teacher. Those injured were another teacher and a security guard.

The man, described as being in his 20s, is of Chechen origin and known to the security services for his involvement with radical Islam, according to police.

French media reports say he was a former pupil at the school.

The French anti-terror prosecutor’s office says it has opened an investigation following the attack for “murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise” and “attempted murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise”.

News channel BFMTV has reported that the brother of the attacker has also been apprehended by police.

Police say the situation is now under control.

French President Emmanuel Macron will visit the school later on Friday, while the National Assembly in Paris has suspended its session in solidarity with the victims.

The attack comes amid rising tensions in France’s sizeable Muslim and Jewish communities due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

However, police have said there is nothing to indicate a link with the Middle East.

The attack comes nearly three years since the murder and beheading of another teacher, Samuel Paty, at his school outside Paris.

The perpetrator of that attack, 18-year-old Abdullakh Anzorov, a Russian Muslim refugee, was shot dead by police shortly afterwards.

  2. Disgusting. Attacks like this must be condemned regardless of where you stand on the Israel-Palestine issue.

  3. … “Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

    Wake up!

  4. This is the reason why North Gaza should be eradicated. Hamas had already exceeded what Isis had done and may do in the future. Clearing out Hamas’s operational grounds is the best logical step.

  5. Hamas will stop at nothing to make the Palestinians despised by every corner of the earth, it seems. School is the only place in my life I learned about what Palestinians were going through and that’s the place Palestinians attack. Make it make sense.

  6. And so it begins. Jews are essentially being told to hide, and now you have a populous that has no qualms with getting violent.

Europe seriously needs to reconsider who it lets in. These past few days have highlighted how dire the situation is. Such radicalized individuals have no place in Western society.

  7. Time for Europeans to understand they have been incredibly tolerant with extremists Muslims for far too long, and they’ll soon pay for it. The West is next.

  8. Remind me again how Hamas are just defending themselves?

  9. I know there isn’t a clear link to the current conflict but for fuck’s sake, do these ~~refugees~~ religious fundamentalists not realise this makes them look even worse than they are already?

  10. Just round up every single person who interacts with the Jihadist extremist social media and deport them directly to Gaza.

  11. I’m sorry i don’t want to offend anyone but why 95% of terrorist belongs to certain …….

I don’t know why they want World domination

    ISIS,
    Hamas,
    Taliban,

Those terrorist need to use their brain, which i think they don’t have

  12. The teachers didn’t have anything to do with actions of the Israeli government. They were just trying to live their lives in peace. Just senseless killings in the name of religion.

Also read the Samuel Paty incident mentioned in the article. All that because a girl lied to ‘appease her father’.

I’m not religious but one would assume that people who believe in a good ending or bad ending post death would know harming innocents automatically makes them evil.

  13. I’ve said this a few days ago.

All the muslims that showed support to Hamas in Europe are telling right to our face that they support the murder of innocent people just because they’re non-believers. They are a ticking time bomb. They are the ones who will do a second 2015 Paris attacks if ISIS gets power again.

ALL of them have to be deported for the safety of the public.

  14. The last few murders of teachers have been the doing of Chechen islamists in France. I don’t know if this one was a response to Hamas’ call to action, but it is undeniable that there is something nefarious fomenting in that community.

I suppose targeting the schools is akin to targeting the French Republic, our value system and education.

  15. You gotta be kidding. Well done Hamas, you’ve caused even more terrorism and death in the world. Congratulations.

  16. As an ex-moose myself i can assure you that Islam ideology/religion is not compatible with liberal western value. That’s it and that’s all.

As a person who live in Muslim majority country in SEA I always have a question to you all from Europe: “Do you really think Islam is peaceful religion? are you that stupid?”

  17. Is it not a coincidence that this happened after Hamas called for Jihad.

I don’t say this lightly but Europe and the West in general have a sleeping, Islamic extremist problem that is slowly awakening.

I should start by saying the obligatory but necessary *NOT ALL MUSLIMS.*

I am British born to a Muslim Father from Algeria
and a white converted-to-Islam Mother from France. My parents live in France now, but I am still in the UK.

My parents are what you would call liberal Muslims and were both generally ok (eventually) with my decision to stop following Islam as a person in my early 20s, many years ago.

When I visit them, each time they are further removed from Islam. My Father always expresses deep concern over the increasingly radicalised young men he encounters at his local Mosque in the French city he lives in. This is anecdotal, but he tells me of the anti-French, anti-Western, anti-European rhetoric that is commonplace.

This week he emailed me of his dismay at some of the men as his mosque calling for the “death to all Jews” that nobody challenged.

Europe has been allowing mass migration of Muslims for decades now. We have to be honest that a growing number of these migrants hate Europe, and want to bring an end to our democracy, culture and way of living.

The extremist Muslims want the world to be an Islamic one where women are oppressed and gay / trans people don’t exist.

It’s so strange to me how many queer and white liberals from Europe and US have come to the defence of Hamas over Israel.

    They keep screaming “Terrorism👏🏻is 👏🏻acceptable 👏🏻 when 👏🏻 committed 👏🏻 by 👏🏻 brown 👏🏻 people 👏🏻”

Don’t they (queers, feminists, liberals) realise that under extreme Islamic law, they’d be the first to be thrown from roof tops ?!

Anyway, fuck this — I’m going to call my parents and tell them I love them.

  18. What a brave, brave soul. Managed to kill a French Teacher, arguably the weakest of all teachers.

Now they’re going to deep fry his ass until he pops like rice crispies because he was dumb enough to listen to Hamas of all organizations.

  19. It’s time to take the toilet paper of life and wipe this shit off.

  20. And people wonder why politics is moving to the right, more parties have to address immigration, or at least integration.

  21. I have a sneaking suspicion that France will not be the only country to deal with these attacks. Stay vigilant, folks.

  22. Can we stop bringing “refugees” into Europe now? Thanks
