As soon as you touch someone against their will you’re really in to a different league, a hearty step away from peaceful protest.
>“Politicians get a lot of death threats and they have a need to feel safe and I compromised that in that moment by touching him.”
But not by pouring something on his head?
I think we need to acknowledge that a lot of protestors have main character syndrome.
I love the people in the background of the picture, still smiling and clapping
Always amazes me how terrible the security is at events like these. The guy could have stabbed Starmer 50 times before they managed to get up there.
In his defence, he thought he was pouring glitter on a turd
so he’s sorry for touching Keith, but not for the glitter? sounds about right.
Keith’s a bloody sellout, and he deserved a bit of glitter for all the shit he’s been pulling. but yeah, touching him was a bit much.
and Keith’s response? ‘power, not protest’? fuck off, mate. you wouldn’t know power if it hit you in the face.
you’re just a puppet for the Tories, doing their bidding while pretending to be for the people. well, we see through your bullshit, Keith.
we need to renationalise the Labour party, get rid of these sellouts and bring back some real leadership. Jeremy wouldn’t have been scared of a bit of glitter. he would’ve stood up for the people, not just his own power.
and as for the t-shirts? just another example of Keith and his cronies trying to profit off of other people’s actions. it’s fucking disgusting. #FuckTheTories #FuckKeith
I still don’t know what he was protesting about. And somehow I now care even less.
It’s very starmer to have a protest about nothing, carried out by someone who didn’t care, and who did basically nothing.
Assaulting a KC on stage in front of cameras and witnesses is, let’s face it, the hallmark of larger testicle size than iq. Doing it to the one that ran the CPS is just asking for trouble.
Don’t get me wrong, Starmer is a weapons grade twunt, but doing this to him was possibly not well thought through.
Starmers reaction was extremely mature frankly- if anything this whole event probably helped him.
I hope that the culprit is prosecuted and the Labour Party drastically improve the security provisions applicable to their most high profile MPs.
I’m no fan of Mr. Starmer. Nor any members of his front bench. But the security implications are very alarming when a random uk resident is able to join the party then easily obtain close enough access to senior Labour MPs at party events to be in a position where they can touch and pour things on them. Imagine if it had been a thuggish member of an illegal group intending to commit gbh or a crime much worse.

It was a weird attempt at protest action, if anything it just made Starmer look fabulous and gave Labour the opportunity to [sell these shirts](https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/63bbe4f3a9e0751f085f2599ec7f68f1b954c4b5/0_180_1080_648/master/1080.jpg?width=700&quality=85&auto=format&fit=max&s=6cf4e6a72faff191d632dc9260171076)
