**A teacher was killed and several others severely wounded in a knife attack at a school in Arras, northern France, on Friday morning.**
According to an interior ministry source, the assailant is a man who was born in Russia in 2003 and arrived in France in 2008. He has been detained by the police and France has opened an anti-terrorist investigation.
The attacker was already on a register of people with potential links to terrorism and radicalization. According to Le Monde’s information, he was under active surveillance by the DGSI, France’s General Directorate for Internal Security.
The attack took place almost three years to the day after the schoolteacher Samuel Paty was murdered on October 16, 2020, in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine in the Paris region by a Russian refugee, for showing his pupils Mohammed cartoons in class as part of a lesson on freedom of expression.
French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived at the site. He is set to meet with staff and emergency services before making a public announcement.

Attacker was already under surveillance for radicalism and potential terrorism, his brother is currently already purging a terrorism sentence. He was supposed to be deported back to Chechnya 10 years ago but some far left organisations managed to prevent it.
This is gold for the far right.
To be noted, Macron already mentionned that a second similar terrorist attempt was prevented today.
Khaled Meshaal, the former leader of Hamas has called for a global Jihad to start today October 13th. I would not be surprised if several incidents like this start popping up. Everyone in the west and Middle East should exercise caution today.
Although I’m sure the timing was not a coincidence, it is worth pointing out the attack was not explicitly about Israel and Palestine. AFAIK the school was not a Jewish one, and the attacker was apparently asking one of the teachers he was attacking whether he was a history teacher so it seems to be more about the Samuel Paty case.
