  1. Vote for Jefferies. Pass the funding bill. Try to get your caucus in order before the next elections.

“No way out?” None Republicans are willing to accept, you mean.

  2. There’s a really simple solution, but it would require an ounce of courage from a few republicans, which is a massive ask.

  3. That’s what happens when the patients take over the asylum.

  4. They’re a party of unamerican, ignorant, destructive dipshits.

  5. This is what happens when you play Dr. Frankenstein. They were always going to lose control of the monster.

So in essence The US Government is a non functioning entity because a full party of spineless cowards quake in fear (or make a god out of) an incurious, intellectually stunted, grifting, carnival barker.

MAGA is the death of America. Anti patriots.

  6. Putin’s ROI on those Facebook ads he’s been running since 2016 is insane!

  7. Going into an election year and republicans are showing you every reason not to vote for them.

  8. It’s like when a toddler claims they can do something on their own, yell at you when you try to help them, then proceed to fail miserably.

“OK, OK, go ahead and hurt yourself.”

  9. This is the problem with fascism. Everyone seeks power and advantage to the detriment of everyone around them, even their own “allies.” It is like watching real life Decepticons, except these jokers have a whole caucus of Starscreams.

  10. It’s strange how republicans test democracy in unprecedented ways and mull civil war, toppling of the constitutional rule of law.

They may be closer to that point of no return than ever.

  11. GQP Select Committee choices for yet another speaker:So Many Choices!🙈🤡🙉🎃🙊🪱💩.

  12. … and once again, Russia wins. No more funding for Ukraine until this mess is figured out.

It’s really weird how everything the Freedom Caucus does ends up benefiting Russia.

  13. Look to your *left* idiots. There’s 214 people sitting right there.

  14. This is going to get so much worse before or if it gets better.

  15. So they just throw their hands up and quit? Fuck these assholes.

  16. When your only path is obstruction, it’s kind of hard to accomplish anything.

  17. Jefferies, Jefferies, Jefferies. Dont worry, the Dems will save your sorry asses again. Maybe then we can get back to running a country and not an episode of Maury.

  18. I think Jeffries is a good leader for Democrats, but why aren’t they out there on every news channel, doing press conferences every hour, hammering home the obvious solution? Republicans have a tiny majority, they have a Democrat Senate and president they will have to work with to pass anything, the only logical solution is a coalition with a moderate Republican speaker. They could be putting pressure on Republicans AND scoring points for the next election by pointing out the obvious, instead they seem to want to just sit back and play it quietly. GO. ON. THE. OFFENSIVE.

  19. Democrats: “It only takes a few of you to find a way out”

  20. MAGA is weakening America in ways we never thought possible.

  21. If by “no way out” they mean completely unwilling to work with the democrats on literally anything and demanding the democrats give into literally every demand then yeah, I guess that sounds about right.

This is their own stupid mess. They fucked around, now they’re finding out. If they want a speaker, they have to come to terms with they have to put up someone who isn’t a complete lunatic.

  22. Good. Fuck them. Dems, please use this for your ads in November and take the low road to point out what a shit show the right is.

  23. It’s because they have grown into two different parties but the way American democracy is made means both sides known they both can’t succeed so they stay together. It’s a bad marriage.

  24. There’s a way out. Recognize that Democrats exist and start treating them as something other than the enemy. This apparently won’t get resolved without Democratic help, so approach Jeffries and get it done. The US is watching.

  25. It’s what they get for catering to the most extreme in their base and relying on right wing propaganda so heavily. Gridlocked because working with democrats is as bad as murder to them, because the radical members of their party have disproportionate amounts of power, and because they aren’t serious at all about governing.

Now we all pay the price for it.

  26. “We are a broken conference,” Rep. Troy Nehls said after leaving a closed-door, two-hour meeting in which House Republicans made no progress in their efforts to unite behind a new speaker.

    * The power centers within the House GOP conference seemed uninterested in saving House Majority Leader Steve Scalise’s speaker bid. Scalise said he was dropping out of the race.
    * Rumors swirled about outreach to Democrats or temporarily empowering interim Speaker Patrick McHenry to conduct important House business.
    * Lawmakers in both parties are expressing growing openness to a bipartisan deal to elect a House speaker. “We’re open to anything that’s reasonable,” said Rep. Maria Salazar. “Bipartisanship is not a sin.”

  27. See this is why they will never try to actually start a civil war or secede from the union. Deep down they know it would be an unmitigated disaster for themselves.

  28. It shows that blaming the dem caucus for the original vote to vacate was just gaslighting. They were desperate to have the hold up the house of cards.

House Dems was like, we don’t wanna play. Figure it out. House republicans never had a cohesive unit and as a collective, they are just being mentally drain in front of the world. They realize that their group is shit

  29. Why would the democrats do this to the GOP?

This is what happens when you give the crazies the platform and let them have sway. They will not tone it down and rise to the moment. They got there by being crazy, with the intention to be bomb throwers. They have no intention to compromise and move forward. Now you’ve ceded all authority to them and have no way out.

The sanest option for GOP right now would be to split from the crazies and defang them. Form a coalition with dems and govern. The odds of them doing this are near zero. Even if they don’t lose primaries to the crazies their stupid egos won’t let them admit that they’ve made a mistake and try and fix this. Even the moderates are too hardcore to compromise they just don’t scream the quiet part out loud

  30. Democrats don’t have this problem because they have an actual political platform – you know, actual policies and proposals to improve people’s lives.

Republicans have no political platform. Just counter-cultural performative gestures.

  31. we’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas!!

  32. You cannot reason yourself out of what you didn’t or weren’t reasoned into. A large majority of these people will be re-elected easily, but hopefully enough people will say No More! To this ridiculousness. Congress is the feeder pool to get anything done, and yet they are at a standstill of a vote they brought, a situation they caused, and now try to blame the left for not supporting the guy that talked shit about them on every tv the day before the vote. We must have some really fat leopards out there now.

  33. Can you imagine being in the room with this many shit slinging monkeys?

Earplugs, noise cancelling earphones, and lots of bourbon would be required to endure ten minutes of this howling pack of loonies.

  34. This is the part of the movie where SOMEONE stands up and gives a really powerful, moving speech, and a transformational leader steps up to the challenge. Is the GOP really so full of craven hacks they don’t even have ONE good person willing to make grownup political decisions?

  35. I’m always gobsmacked reading these comments how damn many people seem to think moderate Republicans are a thing that exists somewhere. It’s like hearing “well, the moderate members of the Taliban might…”

  36. Republicans are a FAILURE. Every single voter who keeps voting there deserve a giant shit on their front door every morning.

  37. This is by design. That won’t select a speaker if it results in a defacto government shutdown, namely not funding Ukraine.

  38. The Democrats shouldn’t back down either. They should be on the airwaves and internet 24/7 pointing out what a shitshow the Republican Party has devolved into. This is the republicans’ problem that they created for themselves.

  39. Time to hand the keys back over to the Democrats. 5 moderate Republicans in Biden districts could save the country and probably win reelection for a long time as conservative Dems. The longer this goes on hopefully the more appealing that choice looks.

  40. Welcome to the endgame. This is not a coincidence or a mistake, this is intentional sabotage of the federal government and should be treated as such.

The insurrectionists have been campaigning that government is broken for decades with absolutely nothing else said about how they would fix it other than ‘drowning it’. Now they are full steam heading the country into a shutdown and no speaker. As I said back in January, this was always the plan. Shut down the government with no speaker and hey guess what, ‘cant restart the government because theres no speaker.’ will be the new mantra during the shutdown. And dont think for a second the shutdown wont happen. It’s guaranteed.

They want the federal government gone, and now they have what they always told us they wanted. Now people are acting surprised. This is why America is failing, because of conserfvatives and the enablers who refuse to recognize what a real and genuine threat these people pose to everyone, including themselves.

Conservatives are mentally ill. Until we accept this fact, antics like this will continue to devolve into mass chaos and instability. These people are utterly incapable of manifesting anything else.

  41. Hakeem Jeffies is literally right there within spitting distance of 218 votes.

They all *know* the way out.
