And yet the councils are a road block to almost every development going. The carpenters estate in Stratford has been near empty for years.
There is no housing crisis, it’s an over population crisis.
A similar thing happened in Thanet, the council emptied a block of flats saying they were going to do a refit. Which they did, but then rented the block to Redbridge council. Caused a huge amount of resentment.
That thing that isn’t happening is happening again
Makes sense. People should be moved to areas where its cheaper to house them.
My hometown in Essex had 3 of those crappy office block to apartment conversions done. So crappy bbc news did a story on them. They are filled with people exported from London and not the nicest folks either
Councils all over are doing it, here in Cornwall a lot from Manchester and Liverpool seem to get allocated council housing without it ever going through the homechoice bidding, people have been saying it for years and the council have always denied it
Middle class professionals also have to move out of London because they can’t afford property here, no one seems to be outraged about that.
Funny there’s about 81 families currently living in that new build in Woolwich that has recently been making news.
I know Chatham is a shit hole anyway, but it’s pretty outrageous that London councils just get to ship a load of people down here. Cause I can guarantee these arnt going to be the hard working well mannered types.
Oh boo hoo, you have been given a free place in Kent, the Garden of England.
As someone who used to pay 4 grand on a season ticket to London, no one should be eligible for a free house in London.
