Terve :))

tervetuloa suomeen !! 🇫🇮 🇫🇮

So long story short, after a 5 months of waiting ,yesterday I received positive news from Migri that I have been granted a residence permit (type A) for work and legally stay in Finland. -The card is yet to be collected & I have been given a personal identity code as well.

I was wondering what are the next steps that I should do, if any of the fellow redditors with previous experience or any of Finnish lads here can give some tips regarding the next steps ; in order what I should do would be highly appreciated !! information regarding the following and additional points would be much useful- Kiitoss !!

1)Registration of municipality of residence at Digi- ja väestötietovirasto (dvv) [https://dvv.fi/en/municipality-of-residence](https://dvv.fi/en/municipality-of-residence)

2)Getting a ID card for foreigner at the police station

3)should I go anywhere to get a Tax number ?

4)Process of opening a Finnish bank account – in order to get E-identification

\- (which banks are ideal for a foreigner?? & recommendations)

5)Free materials to learn Finnish language for a beginner (recommendations or pdf links would be great !! )

6)Any additional information that i am missing ??

what is the order of doing these things ??

Once again Thanks in advance !! I am very excited to start this new journey in Finland and embrace this unique sauna culture Hihihi \^\^

  1. Residence permit and visa are different things. Congrats for the residence permit!

    3) yes. To local tax office.

3.5) three things from KELA: moving to Finland notification, KELA card, European health insurance card. (Child benefits if you have children).

1 should be done first. 2, 3, and 3.5 can be done in the first week. 2 takes 1-2 months and you must have 2 to have 4. Nordea has English services. S-pankki doesn’t. Danske and OP are also good choices. Not sure if they have English services. (Edit: OP bank may not approve some temporary accommodation addresses so if you stay at some Airbnb for the first days you can’t use OP).

    5) your city may have free courses, but they are far from enough.
