  1. My stomach lining deconstructed and my lungs turned black just looking at those photos.

  2. Advocaat? Peppermint liqueur? Feckin Blutwurz?! What the hell were you up to in Germany, OP?

  3. Ah Netto, a.k.a Ghetto. Cheap as chips but so are the clientele.

  4. While I wish my beer was cheaper, I have no problem with expensive cigarettes

  5. That 40% ABV Grappa at €5.99 for 0.5ℓ = €11.98 per litre. The equivalent minimum in Ireland is €22.09 for 0.7ℓ or €31.56 per litre. 2.63x the price.

  6. Can you explain the benefits here of cheaper alcohol and cigarettes?

I know the price of beer has gone up but I’ve found it to be pretty comparable to a lot of other European countries. Sure you can get cheaper wine in France or Italy where it’s produced, but I don’t think the price of booze is that far off?

As for cigarettes, look at NZ. They’ve jacked the prices of them sky high and have had a huge drop off in smoking rates. I’m all for following suit

  7. We’re a disgrace with the drink at the prices we have. Can you imagine cheaper alcohol?

  8. Because our wallet is the last safeguard of our liver

  9. Because you’re not allowed to have any fun whatsoever unless you’re rich

  10. No? Really? How has no one commented on alcohol prices here before?

  11. And yet the media here keep telling us we have “cheap” alcohol. What a load of BS.

  12. The effect of all of the stuff in the photo is

    EEW—-FIGHT ME—-HUG ME—-WATERY TEETH—PUUUKKEE—NO ONE LIKES MYSELF SHOES—PUKE—SLEEP IN BATH

  13. In todays news, irish person on r/ireland whinges about something.

  14. Was in Berlin in august, we couldn’t get over the prices!

  15. It’s fucking alcohol it’s literally kills you, they are just paying for that somewhere else anyway

  16. Yeah, price of Pinneger Bluywuz is mental compared to what it is in that pic.

I stopped buying it because it got so dear.

  17. We have absurdly high sin taxes because it’s a way to levy large amounts of revenue while cloaking it in morality to silence opposition.

  18. It’s so poor people don’t drink themselves to death too quickly…

  19. Sure – we have to tax happiness to keep people misereable.

  20. Some quick web searches turned up these figures from a number of government, NOH and WHO studies

In Ireland, the alcohol-related death rate per 100,000 people was 23.5 in 2022

Northern Ireland had the second-highest rate of alcohol-specific deaths in the UK in 2021, with 19.3 deaths per 100,000 people

In Germany, the alcohol-related death rate per 100,000 people was 8.9 in 2020

In France, the alcohol-related death rate per 100,000 people was 6.4 in 2020

These figures suggest that both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland had a higher alcohol death rate per capita than Germany and France in the respective years. However, it’s important to note that the definition of alcohol-related deaths and the methods of data collection may vary between countries and studies, which could affect the comparison.

  21. I wouldn’t pay half that price for that shite. What’s your point lol
