This is such a hopeless situation. The invasion is inevitable and we know many will die because of it but I’m not sure how else can Israel react to the brutal massacre of its citizens.
**SV leader Kirsti Bergstø believes Israel has committed clear violations of international law in the country’s response to the terrorist attack by Hamas.**
* *The government was very early in condemning the terror against Israel’s civilian population, which SV fully supports. But it is also important to condemn Israel’s war crimes*, she says.
* *We have a civilian population that is locked in, that is denied food and electricity – and that has nowhere to flee. It is important that a humanitarian crisis does not turn into a humanitarian disaster, and the international community must rally around that*, says the SV leader.
______
**Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt says that Norway condemns the blockade of Gaza.**
* *First, I want to be very careful about comparing the situations. Israel has the right to defend itself, but they cannot come up with all possible means, and they have a duty to provide access to food and medicine. If they don’t, it is against humanitarian law,* she says.
**Hamas attacked Israel on Saturday, both from the air and on the ground. Israel has responded militarily, and also strengthened the blockade of Gaza, home to 2 million people.**
**One of the first things the Israeli authorities announced after the attack from Hamas was that they implemented a full blockade of Gaza, and that no food or fuel will be allowed into the area.**
* *What has happened now is that Israel has asked a million people to move. I condemn this blockade, when they ask so many people to move, without access to food and medicine. Having said that, the most important thing is not which words we use*, but what we do, says Huitfeldt.
**The government still supports Israel’s right to defend itself, but specifies that “there are clear rules for how such defense must be carried out”. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre does not imagine that it is possible to evacuate the one million Palestinians that the Israelis have now ordered evacuated.**
**Støre emphasizes that Norway distances itself from Israel’s evacuation order.**
* *It is a recipe for such great suffering, but enormous humanitarian consequences that we must speak out clearly*, he says.
Well this woman is allegedly about to be fired because of incompetence.
But we have a government who is very islam friendly atm, we also have the most unpopular government in our history, since WW2. (When we had a german vassal PM named Vidkun Quisling, we shot him dead.)
Edit: This is not “my opinion” these are the official numbers we get from our news stations. The sitting government has for the first time in its history at an election been at 21% it has never been under 30%
Norway please don’t become Sweden.
What happened is horrible and Israel has every right to defend itself and make sure something like this never happens again. In the other hand. Israel has waited for a long time for an excuse to enter Gaza.
Fleeing from your own country to your own country
It’s very easy for certain Western European leaders to pontificate about the situation. They are not in any danger. Their children don’t face rocket attacks, being taken hostage, or being massacred. They can patronise away and pat themselves on the back for being the good humanist they think they are.
40 Children were not beheaded and chopped up . It was a lie that was spin by Israeli media. 120 hostages Israel of the 1000 dead civilians. Includes 1 child.
Netanyahu knew an attack was coming and never acted. US confirmed and Isreal.
In response a terror attack was undertaken by Israel under took its own terror attack on civilians.
The 8000 Casualties including innocent civilians 1600 dead of that number
500 also innocent baby’s.
Phosphorus bombs and residential buildings in rubble with orders to leave there homes like looks like modern day WW2 footage.
Israel has the loaders voice when it comes to the right to defend itself.
But what about the 500 baby’s ?
People keep condemning Isreal for their military response but what exactly are they supposed to do?
Hamas is actively attacking Israel, they killed hundreds of both Israeli citizens and foreigners so far, and they aren’t planning to stop. Hamas refused any sort of diplomacy, and any time anybody give into their demands they use it as an oppurtunity to kill more people. They use aid to make weapons and they use their own civilians as human shields. They are very open that their only goal is a total destruction of Israel.
What other options does Israel have?
Agree. Just as there is not one reason to justify terrorism, there is not one reason to justify genocide.
Can’t not respond.
Can’t respond without civilians being everywhere.
Can’t get civilians anywhere else.
Military targets have no place but amongst civilians because Gaza is tiny.
Totally and entirely fucked.
Only option that does not involve killing Palestinian civilians is by giving the terrorists what they want, which is very unlikely to happen.
Moving 1.1m people in 24-ish hours isn’t possible. It’s going to get very, very ugly. If I were religious I’d call what they’re doing straight up demonic.
Lot of you will be pretending you weren’t OK with this in the months and years to come.
I suspect Israel’s plan is to have the entire population of Gaza pushed into Europe.
I wish some European countries would either get off their moral high horse or either come up with better solution or shut up
Can’t Norway send their special forces to show Israel how this should be done?
Create a corridor and refugee camps for gazans behind israeli lines and filter the people as they cross.
That way you save the civilians and the terrorists won’t dare cross with them as they would be arrested.
It’s what shithole third world Iraq did in mosul against isis.
Israel don’t care what other countries have to say about it.
If I may be blunt, Gaza should have taken Israel up on their demand to leave – by moving en masse to Israel. Ordering >2M people to leave is just ridiculous, and should be given all the seriousness it deserves. Particularly when you deliberately seal off said people and order them to leave at the same time.
I am ashamed of my country and its position, sucking up to the Israelis.
Maybe the call needs to go out for Israel to stop their indiscriminate bombings or else lose support and possible face sanctions. We should never condone war crimes, not from our allies, not from our enemies, and certainly not from our own country.
Really embarrassing to be Norwegian these days. Our weak government won’t do any official marking to show support after the terror, and just after many days of pressure our weak PM finally hesitated to call Hamas a terror organisation. No support what so ever, only very untrustworthy support when they are pressured to do so. I guess they are so afraid to offend the NGO’s, unions and voters they are so depended on.
Isreal should know a lot of the Norwegians are with them, and this embarrassment of an government barely have any support in public anymore.
Edited a typo.
Time to secure the borders, this WILL BE ugly
Parece que el lobby hebreo es muy fuerte en UK, debiéndose arrodillar su primer ministro hindú ante el poder sionista. Impresentable. El pueblo británico sentirá vergüenza de tener semejante títere en el gobierno
This is such a shitty situation that could have been avoided had the UK not supported mass jewish immigration to the British Mandate of Palestine during the beginning of the 20th century in the first place – and later the creation of Israel as a state.
Now it’s a region where both sides are victims and offenders at the same time… where genocide, terrorism and ethnic cleansing occur and that is full of economic instability.
It doesn’t make any sense to demand they rescind the order. There’s a ground offensive coming, and they’re saying they’d rather the civilians STAY in the areas where there will be house to house fighting?
I would understand (and agree) if they said Israel should wait longer so that the civilians have much more time to evacuate the area, but that’s not what they’re saying. They’re saying it’s wrong to ask them to evacuate at all….which makes no sense. They’re saying that hundreds of thousands of civilians should STAY in the areas where the ground offensive is coming.
Some European politicians can be so daft when it comes to this sort of thing.
