On the 11th of November, 2022, the Defense Forces liberated Kherson from the Russian invaders. Our team was among the first journalists to travel to Tavria to record the stories of the brave residents of Kherson who courageously resisted the invaders.
We met with a serviceman, Serhii Volodkevych, who told us about how he and his brothers-in-arms hoisted the Ukrainian flag over the liberated city and how Kherson residents reacted to it. We met with local residents who shared stroies about their life under the occupation, told about the protests against the Russian Federation and the pseudo-referendum. In addition, we visited the place where the Russian invaders set up a torture chamber and met Fedir Sinyakov, one of those who were illegally held there.
During the occupation, the Yellow Ribbon resistance movement was active in Kherson. We were fortunate to talk to two of its founders. The men told about the rallies and other actions organised by them, which supported the morale of the residents of the occupied territories and frightened the invaders.
**This series is really special to us because Kherson was one of the cities to which we dedicated videos and music videos as part of the Brave Cities project. Kherson is now back home. We are confident that the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will liberate every Ukrainian settlement temporarily occupied by Russia.**
