The fact that the media keeps allowing him to get headlines this way is frustrating. We’ve learned nothing in the last eight years.
>“So they’ve really stymied, they brought chaos in … Congress and now they’ve tried to stymie our ability to have continuity of Congress, which I think is a real problem, what the Democrats have done,” McCarthy said.
This is what brightness-challenged people sound like when they’re unsuccessfully trying to sound bright.
It’s painful.
“It’s always someone else’s fault.” – The “Party of Personal Responsibility”
All McCarthy has to do is vote for Hakeem Jefferies. Problems solved. Continuity preserved.
Why won’t McCarthy vote for Hakeem Jefferies? Does he hate America?
Yes, it’s our fault the party is a raging dumpster fire…
Husband blames wife for getting in the way of his fist.
It’s Democrats’ fault I let the motion to vacate get put into the House rules
McCarthy is a bigger idiot than I assumed if he counted on Democrats to preserve his clown show. Good Lord.
If this is our fault, then I am darn well impressed by our abilities to confuse and radicalize the GOP. Good on us!
Did he, like, dare them to vote him out like a day before it happened?
Look its raining lets blame the democrats.
McCarthy refuses to work with Democrats and instead appeals to the far right of his party, who then turn around and bite him, then he blames the Democrats for the far right tossing him out.
The arrogant hypocrisy is astounding.
They can’t even get out of their own conference. 50 votes short of nominating someone to even stand for speaker. They still cry like babies because the Democrats didn’t save them.
Every reporter should ask if they would have voted to save Nancy Pelosi if the situation were reversed.
House Democrats had consistently and unanimously voted fifteen times for Hakeem Jeffries already because he’s the House leader they want. That’s hardly chaos. It was and remains completely predictable that they would vote against any Republican nominee who continues to reject any cooperation with their party. It’s not chaotic to be entirely clear and predictable. Chaos is when you are be the majority party and are unable to accomplish even the most basic of House functions.
No one wants Jim Jordan to be the speaker, but to blame the Democrats for one man’s deed is absurd. Matt Gaetz is responsible. Blame him.
“Majority party fails to control majority, so blames minority”
“Majority party member initiates vote to remove leader, majority party blames minority”
The GOP failed to govern. If they had been successful, it would not have mattered what the Dems did. They failed because of their own party, not because of the minority party.
Just remember, the last time the Dems held the House there were periods where they had a smaller majority margin that the GOP have now and they never ran into this kind of issue.
The guy who agreed to the rules that ended his own run as speaker, who got ousted by his own party, is blaming the democrats?
That’s like ignoring trees and blaming the grass for making shade.
And that’s why Dems didn’t vote to save your ass. The last time they did (CR) , you went on Sunday shows and blamed them.too
Ah, yes…look what you MADE ME DO!
The narcissistic addict abuser’s defense.
He would blame the democrats if he shit his pants.
I mean, i’m pretty sure it was Twatt Gaetz who caused the chaos with staging the vote in the first place.
Could the Democrats possibly have lost faith in his leadership when he reneged on the budget agreement he agreed to?
Call all Democrats baby killing blood drinking satanist
Call them all evil
Claim they hate and are ruining America because they are all radical communists
Now they are whining about Democrats not stepping in to save the republican party from themselves
Republicans have the majority, it’s not the Democrats fault they can’t get their shit in order.
Making it explicit because some republicans might not get the nuance
The democrats are the minority party in the house. They aren’t there to save republicans
When the republicans got the majority and elected McCarthy he took the role knowing that a small group of miscreants could elect to oust him at any time. They did exactly what we thought they would do.
It’s remarkable just how bad at politics McCarthy is.
When Gaetz was threatening to blow up the House GOP, McCarthy had a golden opportunity.
He could have gone to Hakeem Jeffries and said “The dipshits in my caucus are about to boot me and plunge the House into chaos and inaction, because nobody can run the caucus and get to 217. Let’s make a deal.”
Now, Jeffries has little incentive to do much of anything to help out McCarthy, because he’s an untrustworthy dipshit that’s the weakest Speaker in the history of the House. But, Jeffries could have said “Okay, here’s what we want.”
1) Introduce a motion to expel George Santos. He has zero business being in Congress and is under federal indictment.
2) Strip Gaetz, Boehbert, and Taylor Greene of their Committee assignments. Embarrassments to Congress and have no business serving on any committee.
3) GOP will maintain the majority on committees, but with an increased role for Democrats.
4) Shut down the impeachment inquiry and weaponization of government committees. They’re also embarrassments to Congress.
5) Commit to bringing a clean budget to the floor in alignment with the commitments made to the President, with Ukraine funding.
McCarthy could have counter-offered, they could have negotiated, and Jeffries could have said “We announce this publicly, and I’ll give you exactly as many votes as you need to stay Speaker. You just have to have five votes on the GOP side.”
Instead, McCarthy gave the Freedom Caucus everything they wanted, let them blow up the House, and now they’re blaming Democrats for not bailing them out. Tough shit, asshole – should have thought of that before you decided to burn every bridge on your way out of Washington.
