I suspect this ‘blitz’ was supposed to roll back the Ukrainians. Resorting to human wave tactics again is not a sign of strength from Russia.
Maybe they think this is Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator. My son’s favorite thing to do is to see how many chickens it takes to beat a given force. 30,000 chickens will beat 150 WWII US soldiers.
Russian command behaves like I play RTS games: send in best units, watch them die uselessly and then send whatever else I have left and watch them die uselessly…
