The modern GOP is the most selfish, self-centered group of politicians to “serve” in my lifetime.
If there were ever any sort of thing to make the GOP go the way of the Whig party this might be it. There are pretty much 2 very different factions under the umbrella and it’s on full display right now because those gears have ground to a complete halt. If a more centrist typical Republican decides to run against Trump as an Independent stick a fork in it

Headlines like these always come across to me like they are implying that this is some brand new phenomenon.

The entirety of the GOP house gets together in a room, looks around at each with the question, “who among us here is a quality person that can lead us?” and they come up with, “welp, nobody I guess.”

No one likes Nancy Pelosi, but she was able to force herself in.
For the vast majority of Republicans in DC, there are only two ways they could possibly lose their jobs: Forgetting to file the reelection paperwork, or much less likely Merrick Garland doing his job and charging them with Seditious Conspiracy.

They don’t want government. So just sabotage the federal government so they can’t operate.

When are (actually) patriotic Republicans going to wake up and realize what a fucking mess they’ve created of our government?
But maybe that was their plan all along. They hate government, after all, despite it being essential to every facet of the life they say they love so much.
If the majority party is this disordered, they should do what’s done in the UK and Australia, government (or just the house in this case) is dissolved and everyone heads to the polls.
This Republican party is not functional enough to govern.
After 50 years of propaganda, the only thing they know is that democrats, liberals and progressives are trying to destroy America.
They have been so brainwashed that they believe the worse republican is head and shoulders above the best democrat. It’s insanity.
If Jordan becomes speaker, the Dems would have been better off choosing McCarthy. I hope they know what they’re doing.
