So literally half of Gaza? I’m usually all for taking in refugees, but this is in my opinion too risky, Palestinian refugees have caused problems everywhere, that’s why none of the Arabic nations want to take them in. But also they have no where else to go, so really I’m very conflicted about what to do here tbh.
Jordan took in Palestinians the last time they got kicked off that land. They killed the king of Jordan and I believe also the Prime Minister.
There’s a reason why most Arab nations don’t want them.
Palestinians have a history of not being friendly as refugees to their host nations. They makes good immigrants. Just not great refugees.
How about the surrounding Arab nations?
How is this even an article? Its two paragraphs.
Anyway, no. If there was a way to accurately and reliably filter out fundamental religious extremists from neutral and peaceful muslims then fine, we’re all for it. Always have been. But there is a reason no one wants to take in Palestinians anymore. As a matter of fact, I think the world needs to take a long hard look at religious fundamental extremism. Not just in the Muslim communities either. We need a serious secular non violent movement imo.
Here is where they lose me.
NOPE.
I hear they have lots of room in Florida.
No,better to put them in surrounding Arab countries.
I don’t think that’s a good idea. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not xenophobic and am all for taking in refugees. However, we are standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel. Hamas needs to go, and the way this is going to happen is not going to leave the Palestinians feeling good about Israel and those that stand with them. The situation is really bad.
All this is to say, there are plenty of places that are not fully backing Israel that can handle this one, let’s do our part in a situation less likely to radicalize the inbound refugee group against us. Perhaps some of their Arab nation neighbors.
Nope
Kinda funny. People are bashing Israel for their actions towards innocent Palestinians (rightly so) but when it comes to accepting them as refugees suddenly they are not that innocent and you don’t want them. I don’t know the right answer but just noticing the inconsistencies.
And when the resulting fallout results in Trump winning and then deporting All of Them, they will blame someone else but themselves.
the arab nation do no want the palestinians, too much trouble
Absolutely not
Your kidding me right
As a progressive liberal, that’s a hell no from me.
Every country that’s taken in Palestinian refugees has regretted it.
There are a whole lot of neighboring Arab countries that need to step up for this, not the US!
I’m a progressive and this statement just shows how misinformed most leftists are on the issue. Ever wonder why surrounding Arab nations don’t even accept Palestinians they apparently support? Aside from the economic burden, previous nations that accepted Palestinians like Jordan and Egypt saw increased terror activities as Hamas fighters were able to coordinate with other terror groups in those nations. Look up black September. Alot of leftists are ignoring the geopolitical context of irans involvement and motives, which are key here. I’m sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, but for God’s sake there is no single right side in this situation. Israel has the right to defend citizens from terror, but Palestinians should also have their humanity in tact. To many hardliners on both sides making this so much worse
Maybe everyone at these “river to the sea” protests could each take one home with them
Nah, the US should shame the Muslim countries into accepting Muslim refugees.
Why would the US accept the Gaza refugees when it is the responsibility of Muslims to assist Muslims?
The US assisted Ukrainian refugees that fled to Poland and other neighboring countries.
Why do neighboring Muslim countries refuse to accept Gaza refugees? It is their Muslim responsibility.
Progressive here. No thanks.
How about their sponsor Iran take them all?
If they can afford to pay for their weapons and tunnels then they can afford to fly them Iran.
This is the New York Post, a Murdoch rag using this situation to sow division and fear monger.
Israelis and Palestinians are being thrown into the fire by two war mongering leaders.
Amazing how quickly all that pro-life rhetoric from the last couple of years vanished. I guess it’s ‘to hell with the children’ now.
Well, now that abbott is barbed wiring New Mexico to keep them out and pregnant women in, and is drowning pregnant women in the Rio Grande… wait a second. Isn’t that a mixed message? This governor they’ve got sounds like a real piece of work.
Anyway, now that abbott is keeping “them” out in droves – we’re going to need some more over here. Don’t move to Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana or Texas (and others) though – probably not a good idea for a foreign peoples to mix with the absolute worse America has to offer. Try and stick to places the hillbilly rednecks (the worst kind, let me tell you) call “liveral” (honest) or “them goddam blue states”. You’ll enjoy a much happier existence in the new world.
I live in an area where there is 2 Democrats for every Democrat in town. You cannot get elected to local office if you don’t have a D next to your name. Even people here are growing weary of the Venezuelan refugees that are being housed long term in the hotels in town because crime has risen near the hotels. The last straw was when one of the asylum seekers tried to rape a hotel worker. Now the towns want them gone.
I don’t agree with Greg Abbott’s, well – anything, but people around here are starting to get why Texas wants to seal the borders.
I think this is one issue where most progressives and conservatives can stand in unison of. For different reasons of course but still land on the same page. While none of us here are actually living in 3rd world conditions, that doesn’t necessarily mean we just have abundance to give. Call me a racist all you want but I rather allocate resources and more money and aid to lower income communities across the US. We really do have issues here that we need to resolve
