I moved to antwerp temporarily and my apartment has this heater. Last night it was making a lot of noise so I switched it off because it was bothering the neighbours.

I assume the issue is low gas pressure, but what can I do about it? Is there some easy way to fix it that I’m missing?

The picture is from this morning after I tried to turn it on again. It shows 0.2 and then F.22

Thanks

  1. More than likely low water pressure. You need to add water to the radiators. There should be some filling point where you can connect a hose and add water.

  2. Your water pressure inside the heating loop is almost zero (little dial on the right). Needs to be in the ‘green’ range. F.22 indicates that.

There should be a way foreseen to add more water to the system, usually a set-up with two valves you need to slowly open and close.

The installer/repair manuals are to be found online, DM if you can’t find them.

  3. Is it gas pressure or water pressure?
De 0.2 bar seems to be too low indeed.
Depending on your setup between 1 and 1.5 is ok.

There should be a water valve allowing you to let additional water flow into the circuit, the amount of bar should increase once you add more water.

Try to go to 0.8 and notice if there is any difference on the noise level.

No need to pay 70 bucks for a plumber who will do just that.
If you rather don’t touch it and you are renting call the landlords

  4. There’s not enough water in your radiator circuit, the meter shows the pressure and it should be somewhere in the green zone.
You can add water by turning the 2 valves near your heater open.
Make sure the pressure doesn’t drop immediately, because that would mean your tubing or radiators have a leak. (or since the pressure is almost 0, this is likely already the case).
In that case I would suggest calling in a professional.

  5. Does the heater says something else to??
    Otherwise you need a plumber.

  6. Looking at the dial I assume your problem is water pressure. It is empty.

  7. The place I used to rent in Antwerp also had this one. Occasionally we didn’t have hot water because of low pressure. We had to let in extra water in the central heating unit to fix it (opening one of the tabs below)

  8. Can you show a picture of the hoses connected to it? If it has a loop you can fix this easily by opening 2 valves for a few seconds.

  9. If it is 0.2 bar, then the pressure is very low indeed.
It is a closed system, so such low pressures are not expected, unless there is a leakage.
Best thing is to call the owner and have it fixed for you as soon as possible. If they are sloppy with the maintenance, they should also check the pressure vessel for replacement while they are there (usually red colored and is located near the heater).
Alternatively you can try to fill it yourself to 1.5 bar using a hose, when the heater is not active.
