Emily in Paris: Ukraine complains over Kyiv character stereotype

  1. It’s actually funny how this show tried to portray US Americans are “superior” to Europeans but just achieved the exact opposite.

Not that I actually understand why this actually annoys that many people. It’s not the first stereotypical portray of a foreign nation in Hollywood movies and we Europeans also just love to foolishly laugh about American stereotypes whenever possible.

  2. Eastern-Europeans portrayed as criminals and sex workers….not that new.

    I get the complaint tho…

  3. >portrays the French as rude people who wear berets and frequently cheat on their partners.

    >The new series of the show features Alfie, a stereotypical Brit who spends his time drinking in pubs and watching football.

    Lol

  4. Netflix is the apex of social justice and inclusion.. for brown and black people.

When it comes to Slavic people, they not only do not give a shit but they also actively promote negative stereotypes. Just look at the Witcher and how they handled (erased) its Polish / Slavic basis.

  5. Is he saying there are no Ukrainians that shoplift, have poor fashion sense or are afraid of being deported? Or is it a realistic character?

  6. > Ukrainian film producer Natalka Yakymovych who said: “So in a TV series, negative characters can be anything but Ukrainian? Obviously, we all would like her to be from Moscow, but you don’t always get what you want.”

    😂

  7. I remember there were some American TV series, not from Netflix, but there were episodes in Ukraine, and the main character ran into “Ukrainian nationalists”.

Those “Ukrainian nationalists”, take him to their leader who has truly Ukrainian name Christian, and who also cuts a big chunk of salo with a big ass knife during interrogation, because according to Muricans that is what “Ukrainian nationalists do while interrogating someone.

No need to mention that in that “Ukraine” most cars using American car plates and there are shit ton of pick-ups

  8. This show is all about stereotypes. While I found this scene distasteful, I don’t think anyone watches emily in paris as a documentary. It’s over exaggerated on purpose.

  9. I cannot believe one season was not enough for netflix and i had to wait so long for a second season, to see the mandatory inclusive black/white couple LMAO
