  1. Very good that he is rectifying the situation. VdL may well offer her full support to Israel without mentioning the impossibility of 1M people ordered by Israel to move, she certainly does not speak for the EU as a whole. Borrell is correct that Israel has the right to defend itself but that it is also bound by international law. This should rectify the picture created whereby the EU is being lumped together with the US and the UK in giving carte blanche to Israel.

  2. Glad a bit of sanity has been restored and von der leyen has been slapped down. Speaking out of turn in the eu is confusing for outsiders. The rules have always been clear about who speaks for what, but they are a bit too complex and slow for fast moving situations.

  3. This typifies the EU. What we need is clarity and action. What we get are old Eurocrats arguing about who is most important.

  4. When Von der Leyen was calling Azerbaijan’s Aliev a reliable partner she should have been kicked out there and then. She is corrupt as fuc.k
