  1. How dare you not sabotage our country & allies just to own the libs? — Republicans

  2. > Why is the left so divisive?!?
    – r/conservative

    > I offer the Democratic Party nothing to help me maintain my speaker position!
    – McCarthy

    > The Democrats are at fault for the House being in disarray!!
    – Conservative Media

    > How dare you suggest we work with the Democrats to fix the mess we’ve created!!
    – Republicans

It’s just sad at this point.

  3. How are the Democrats supposed to save the Republican party if the Republicans keep pushing them away?

  4. Hah they are crumbling more each day. Only takes what 10 votes to get what the Dems want?

  5. So the dems get blamed for McCarthy but also get blamed when we try to make a deal to get our country back in order

    What’s going on r/Conservative

  6. Honestly, this is starting to become the speech of traitors and proving themselves as fascist. You’re either with the party or you’re “against us”. They’re actively promoting this rhetoric, and Republicans should not be allowed to govern with this mentality.

  7. Basically, “I’d rather have none of us than one of them!”

  8. Sure we’ll be happy to work with Republicans on this. Hakeem Jefferies needs only four additional votes to win speaker.

  9. If he said “truly, truly, truly outrageous” then we would know he is a fan of Jem

  10. The only way to fix this disaster is vote BLUE straight down the ballot till they are all gone

  11. Collaboration across the aisle is always “outrageous” to insurrectionists.

  12. I mean, you guys aren’t exactly able to agree on anything yourselves so…

  13. So it’s “outrageous” to float a Speaker deal with Dems but it’s perfectly fine to go extended periods of time without any Speaker at all because they have literally no one with the qualities needed to be Speaker? lol

I tell you, these people would be really good comedians if they weren’t such pathetic dangerous failures.

  14. Hell, the Republicans don’t even have to vote for a Democrat, they just have to vote for not a crazy person. I understand that’s rather difficult to find in the Republican party, but there are a few reasonable Republicans.

I could see Brian Fitzpatrick being able to potentially swing Democrat votes. He’s ranked the most bipartisan member of Congress right now. He has some pretty centrist views, there are some problems with his opinions on abortion but even those are tempered by a pretty pragmatic working across the aisle mentality. Would I rather have a Democrat? Probably, but as far as Republicans go he’s a pretty decent enough fellow.

If they move to the center, put the most bipartisan GOP member out there as a candidate, they might stand a chance to get a few Democratic votes, end this debacle, and neuter the far right idiots.

You don’t win over Democrats by moving farther right.

Stop negotiating with the terrorists of the freedom caucus, and move towards an actual bipartisan solution. Nominate someone in the fucking center. Everyone loses that way but everyone also wins.

Compromise. It’s how our government is designed to work.

  15. This is far more entertaining than anything else on TV right now.

  16. The funny thing is if a very small group of Republicans get together with the Democrats, they can force the speakership to whoever they want.

  17. “Jeffries has offered discussions on a bipartisan path forward. But Rep. Mike Rogers (R) said Democrats should make a specific offer that could provide a basis for opening negotiations.”

“They haven’t offered jack,” Rogers said.” – [Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-10-12/democrats-to-the-rescue-some-republicans-see-it-as-solution-to-speaker-impasse)

“Rogers left a closed-door caucus session Friday and said Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries (R-NY) should state concessions needed to help the GOP.

“They put us in this ditch along with eight traitors,” Rogers told Capitol Hill reporters. “We’re still the majority party, we’re willing to work with them but they gotta tell us what they need.” [AL](https://www.al.com/news/2023/10/mike-rogers-will-not-back-jim-jordan-for-speaker-of-the-house-would-work-with-democrats.html)

Yeah, he floated a deal in an arrogant condescending ‘this is your fault so fix it’ kind of way.

  18. How is this outrageous? Wouldn’t there be a myriad of instances where intelligent people of good intent would agree on what ought to be done to further the interests of the United States of America and its people? Better health care for veterans. Working to improve the United States infrastructure for power and transportation. Working to reduce of drugs to ordinary Americans. Working to make the tax code less complicated. Working to improve the US education system. It should not be outrageous to work across the aisle.

  19. It’s called leadership…someone needs to demonstrate it.

  20. He already said enough to earn a primary challenger so he might as well get it done. Country before party. Sanity before insanity. Come on “moderates”, save the country!

  21. so what, we’re not going to have any legislation in 2023 or 2024 because republicans cant get their shit together? republicans on their own passed 1 spending bill of 12, had a load of useless committees wasting tax dollars, all while ukraine, palestine, south africa and other countries are begging for help from nazis proliferating around the globe.

  22. Heaven forbid someone in that morass of idiocy wants to actually govern, right?

  23. Republicans likely wouldn’t keep their word on whatever deal they made anyway.

  24. God forbid they work together to actually get something done…idiots

  25. This is the problem with the 2 party system, in any other system they would need a coalition government.
