Expected something like this to happen the moment Russia stopped exporting to us like 2 years ago from the regular channels. It made no sense for us to continue letting the Balkan stream pipeline to continue without change considering its construction was a huge scandal to begin with and didn’t benefit us much. In all cases, either stopping it or jacking up transit fees, Serbia and Hungary would’ve gotten the short end. Silver lining is we get to fuck over Austria as well, which is nice.
**Edit:** For anyone asking about N.Macedonia, they’re taken care of as part of the new deal we’ve got going with Greece. I imagine it would be more cost-efficient than remaining hooked to the Balkan stream.
Should’ve done it when they cut our gas for refusing to pay in rubles. Serbia and Hungary should ask Russia to bear transit fees.
