  1. 7% fewer road journeys since the pandemic, to be fair. But much lower enforcement going on, it seems.

  2. Does this take into account the fact that Gardai were completely manufacturing 50% of all recorded drink driving checks?

The big story that Broke in 2017 and it was literally proven that at least 50% of all recorded Garda drink driving stops never actually happened and they were just made up by Gardai to boost the numbers?

Mad that everyone forgot about that one so quickly.

  3. There is probably an element of them being fed up of being on checkpoints after literally spending all day at them during covid.

  4. only halved? I got bagged 10 times between 2008 (when I started driving) and 2019 and have never been bagged since

  5. What are guards actually doing; you never seem then anywhere other than a music festival or a football match. On their day to day I wonder how many call outs they actually do.

  6. >The Garda added more vehicles now had hands-free connectivity, thus reducing the need to hold a mobile phone when driving. Many drivers still breaking the law had also switched to placing a mobile phone on their lap and this was harder to detect.

    They aren’t even trying.
