In the recent Polish election, Poland’s Law & Justice party, known for its nationalist rule and criticism of the EU, appears to be on track for defeat according to an exit poll. The opposition, led by the Civic Platform under former European Council President Donald Tusk, is projected to win 32% of the vote with record turnout. The Third Way alliance secured 13%, and the Left party 8.6%, giving them a combined total of 248 seats in the lower house of parliament. This outcome could have significant implications, including the release of over €35 billion in EU funds for Poland’s economy and the potential isolation of Hungary’s Viktor Orban, who had an alliance with Law & Justice.
>If confirmed, the result will create opportunities for the EU. Most immediately, Poland will be aiming to release more than €35 billion of EU funds to deliver a jolt to Eastern Europe’s biggest economy.
>
>Furthermore, there is a prospect of isolating Hungary’s Viktor Orban, another populist, who had previously been supported by his alliance with Law and Justice, according to Bloomberg.
Indeed, Donald Tusk did promise unblocking those funds as soon as possible. That means reversing a lot of the judiciary changes.
The biggest boost for the EU is likely the political one.
If confirmed opposition win in Poland would serve as an example that the current international populist / anti-democratic wave can be stopped and even possibly reversed.
PiS government used every unfair advantage it could in an overall brutal and dirty election campaign.
The fact that pro-EU and pro-democracy forces can prevail despite this is a near miracle and a testament to their persistence (helped by some measure of luck & PiS mistakes)
Perhaps a thing or two some of our neighbors endangered by antidemocratic forces can learn from the election campaign in Poland this year.

Good job poles. With this elections your state has literally earned 77billion dollars. And has stopped being fined 1 million euros every day.
