The red attire was chosen for Cardinals to symbolize the blood of martyrdom, that they were to be ready to pour out their lives for Christ, nailed and sacrificed with Him to the Cross for the redemption of mankind.
Precious Blood of Christ, offered on the altars of all the churches of the world, grant us peace and pardon!
