China are quietly taking over a lot of UK businesses and I don’t think that bodes well for us in the future.
This makes me slightly worried as a Monzo user. I don’t want to support Revolut and their CEO either.
Does anyone have any experience with non-Monzo/Revolut ‘digital’ banks?
Tencent… the same Tencent that is known for having major security issues with software that are detrimental to the end user. The same Tencent that owns Epic Games which has its own storefront known for security flaws and questionable data collection policies. The same Tencent that has is having a class action lawsuit filed against them for user surveillance.
As much as Monzo is highly dependent on investor cash to meet its running costs, having Tencent involved is not a good sign.
As a Monzo customer, I’m not sure if I should be worried or not. Chinese influence in things is far too big these days.
Monzo started out for me as a good alternative this year but subsequently have banned interactions with Binance (like crypto or not, I get to decide how I spend my money, not my bank) and are getting undesirable bedfellows. Shame. Back to Coop.
Really edging me close to switching to starling now
Well it’s another move for the UK to become China’s full time bitch.
I’d imagine they’ll lose a few customers because of this.
