Only a week before Hamas militants breached the Gaza boundary fence, an Israeli one-star general was briefing NATO’s most senior military officer on the nation’s seemingly state-of-the-art defenses.
For NATO, which is doubling down on artificial intelligence, cyberdefense, and new technology that can connect alliance commanders in Belgium with shooters on the eastern flank border with Russia, the attacks were a wake-up call.
Seems more of a failure that Israel had most of their soldiers protecting the expansionist settlers in the west bank rather than guard their kost dangerous border.
Israel isn’t in NATO or Five Eyes, their intelligence failure seems to be from their own hubris.
They knew. They totally knew.
It’s the ultimate golden ticket for the right wing government.
They knew and they let it happen.
Oh yeah look what happened over there, in this totally comparable situation! Now we need more surveillance and troops and more military spending so yall can feel safe again!
Didn’t Egypt warn them it was about to happen? This seems purely like hubris to me.
Netanyahu has long been a supporter of funding Hamas, stating “those who do not want to see a Palestinian state should fund Hamas to further our goals” – this lapse reminds me of the false flag that was the precursor to WW2 invasion of Poland.
It does seem strange that a music festival in such a tense region wouldn’t have better security. It seems like a really obvious target for terrorism in hindsight. I’m not in the intelligence industry though, they shouldn’t NEED hindsight to see stuff like this coming. At the very least whoever’s in charge of their intelligence apparatus needs to be fired.

Their intelligence didn’t fail. They chose to ignore it because they were arrogant.
Israeli’s “intelligence failure” was deliberate. They used their civilians as pawns to justify a full scale invasion and decimation of Palestinians.
What does Israel have to do with NATO? We should be concerned about ourselves. If anything the attacks by Israel are going to destabilize Europe by forcing migration once again 🤦♀️
