This is simply not true. No single senator has the power to hold up confirmations, they only have the ability to refuse unanimous consent. Schumer can schedule a vote any time he wants.

It’s quite a thing to wonder… What is the bigger threat to national security? The republican blockade of military positions in the Senate, or the republican infighting and paralysis in the house?

seems like the media is complicit in the chaos, if the headline doesn’t start with SENATOR TUBERVILLE, and instead opts for “Senate GOP”, letting him skate by.
It’s so weird. Growing up in the 80s and the early 90s and starting to pay attention, I really felt like I had a sense of what was going on that was different from my peers. I always seemed to care more about politics than the rest of the people around me while still being a kid etc.
I felt like I had a good awareness of the issues of the day and I always aced tests on civics etc. while wondering why my friends didn’t seem to give a shit about the crazy things I saw going on.
By comparison to today, man was I naive. I had no idea how much more fucked up things would become.
I always just thought that this kind of stuff was like arguing about who the cooler Transformer was: Optimus versus Megatron. Just some cool shit you could talk about, but either way, you still loved the same things.
I now realize that’s not it at all. Now I know, it’s us or them. I’ll be damned if I let America fall to these fucking fascists.
