That “we support Israel statement” many PMs came with last week is fading pretty quick.
It’s more of a long-held aspiration that an opportunity has presented itself for than an actual plan.
People are so radicalized, of corse last week, and still to this day, our hearts and minds are with everyone affected by this war. Israel was hit and people stood against Hamas, but the way the Israeli government is reacting is nothing short of war criminal. This is a fascist government that has deliberately been exterminating the Palestinians. One can condemn Hamas and the Israeli government at the same time, believe it or not.
This woman would let inside Europe those 8500 illegal immigrants stuck in the Canary Islands.

The solution is of course not the killing of innocents in Gaza. A ground war would be disastrous for Israel too. But there has to be a response to radical Islamists attacks. It isn’t a genocide. It’s a just response to barbarity
Seems everything is a genocide for some people these days.
What the fuck is Israel supposed to do? Hamas leadership isn’t stupid, they knew what they were doing. If Israel doesn’t go into Gaza, great they get to periodically kill, rape and mutilate a bunch Israelis. If Israel goes in, even better! A few hundred thousands will die sure but atleast Hamas will grow in strength.
Left wing politicians gonna follow the left wing narratives. Everybody act surprised.
My stance is the same. You cannot decry the murder of innocent civilians, to call this barbaric (which it is) and perpetrators should be punished (which they should) but no amount of reasoning will give you the right to then commit the same atrocities and see this as justified. There is no gradation, both are just as evil.
You know, this whole Gaza situation is such an incredibly drastic and violent polarization moment in this long-irreconcileable conflict that I feel like there are only three stances the West/EU could take that wouldn’t be an inherently hypocritical cop-out stuffed with “concern” and “thoughts and prayers”:
a) say “Laws of warfare only apply when fighting other democracies.” and carpet-bomb Gaza ourselves
b) sanction the shit out of Israel
c) explicitly state “We want nothing to do with this shitshow, sort it out between yourselves you God damn savages and whoever’s left standing when the dust settles can hit us up for a new trade deal but don’t expect a handshake”.
Not to say that any one of these approaches is either more productive in terms of reaching a stable solution or even more conductive to reducing civilian harm than what we’ll most likely end up doing i.e. more or less begrudingly support Israel just enough to not encourage them to go harder on Gaza but make sure they don’t get ganked by the rest of the Arab world, which I guess goes to show that hypocrisy and theatrics constitute an indispensible grease that makes the world politics move forward.
