So I rented/leased a SUV from SixtDriveSmart* for 4 months whilst in Poland. *Polish version of SIXT Subscription
In all my years of renting from only Sixt, even becoming a Diamond member. This is by far the worst experience and I need some advice.
Everything went smoothly at the beginning, their response time prior to confirming the agreement was basically so quick I had barely even sent the email. During the rental was also quite quick. Max 5 hours.
Trying to return the car (flexible subscription) was another story, unless it was regarding paying the last invoice. It took 1-2 weeks, sometimes even emailing 3 times before I got a response.
Now after returning the car they claim I damaged the car. (see attached picture). The scratch is about 2-4 cm on the front bumper and doesn’t go into the metal.
I have no idea how this scratch happened, but I doubt it was because of me. The car spend most of the time in a underground parking with no cars parked to closely to me.
I lived in Krakow, there are currently major works going on Zwierzyniecka street (where I lived) and on the bridge. A god damn tiny stone can have caused this, someone who passed by with a bag, etc.
I was supposed to have Premium Insurance from Ergo Hestia on the car but they claim that after having fled the insurance claim I still have to pay 1240 PLN. WTF! Almost 280€ after insurance for a scratch I can only see if I stand so close to kiss the car?
No way, I called the Insurance company, checked HistoriaPojazdu, went to the police office to check the history of the car. They come with nothing, no damage or accidents claimed. The insurance company couldn’t even find a claim on the car.
I called sixtdrivesmart (as we communicated via Email so I would always have proof) they told me to call another number and when I called that number they told me to call back to the sixtdrivesmart and when I called them, they hung up on me. Called via another number, which they answered and told them my name. Go figure, they hung up.
I’m out of options. I paid 5000 PLN in deposit which I would very much like to get back.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do or has had a similar experience?
