Staying in a hotel for business and saw this ridiculous scale. Surely 0-2 is horrendous, 3-4 is poor, 5-6 is average/meh, 7-8 is decent, and 9-10 is fantastic?

  1. they plan to average up the results, and having a lot of high numbers to average makes them look better.

  2. It’s using NPS where only 9-10 are promoter scores. Below are passive or detractors.

So you’re correct it’s absolute bollocks.

  3. On that scale if a 7 is I had major issues that were not resolved, I’m struggling to imagine just how awful the place must be to score a 1. The monsters I thought were under the bed were actually there?

They’ve likely be caught up in the NPS bullshit scoring that deems anything 7 and below as not gushing with praise that it must be negative. Adding the colour scheme to the scores and the text below is to convince people to artificially rate them higher than they would otherwise.

  4. Ah yes, the Video Game rating system. Where out of 10, 7 is average….

  5. No one better than Uber where a driver with a rating that falls below 4.8 is about to be booted off (number might have changed I haven’t done it in a while)

  6. The fact that it was created by a guy named Matt Ward is just the icing on this horrible manipulative cake.

  7. Oh god, thought I was finally free of the hell that is NPS. Matt is definitely tightly managed and performance-paid on NPS results, hence why it’s utter crap.

“So sorry you scored us a 7, but since I’ve now acknowledged your concerns and will have my team address them, can I send you another survey and you can score us a 10 this time?”
