Why is Western Germany’s coastline significantly more muddy than Eastern Germany?

  1. It’s not really muddy that’s just the area that gets uncovered during low tides.
And the Baltic sea simply doesn’t have tides as strong as the North sea.

  2. That’s the “Wattenmeer” (wadden sea), an area that falls dry with every tide. It’s a world (nature) heritage site. The baltic sea doesn’t have strong tides in contrast.
