Can someone explain why Kevin McCarthy is going to bat so strongly for Jim Jordan, way more than he did for Scalise? Jordan’s cronies are the sole reason why McCarthy isn’t Speaker anymore so why help get that guy to take your seat?
People are really ripping into Jim Jordan today but I can’t help but find him relatable. I, too, can’t seem to put together enough votes to be elected Speaker of the House, and I’m only marginally more qualified than he is.

If the majority of the Dems in the House and a handful of Republicans who see the post-Trump era backlash coming could pass a few centrist bills, there could be some sort of governance. It’s naive but I keep hoping that there could be enough common ground to get some governing done if national loyalty could win over party loyalty- on both sides.
I loved that the 20 republicans who voted against him were pushing hard for another vote today JUST so they could vote against him again, lol.
