I just bought this painting and i think the text is in german, could anyone make out what it says and translate it?
“After I scrambled around on the area for an hour and had drawn the destroyed machines, my driver turned around this board. It said “do not enter the airfield. Mines”.
It’s in a old font that I rarely see anymore so it can be wrong, but as it is from 1941 aka during ww2, the text makes kinda sense.
Normally, translations go to r/translator, but this is a relatively short text.

nachdem ich etwa eine Stunde auf dem Platze herumturmte und die zerst. Maschinen malte, drehte mein Fahrer diese Tafel um, auf der stand: “Flugplatz nicht betreten, vermint”

After I had been running around the area for about an hour, painting the wrecked planes, my driver turned this sign around, on which was written: “Do not enter airfield — minefield”
