  1. Got in to the thread early to get a good seat. I bought popcorn!

  2. I hope he loses votes today and drops out. While this is all funny, Speaker Jim Jordan is a terrifying proposition.

  3. If moderate Republicans work with democrats to get a speaker. That’s the end of their political career. They’re definitely getting primaried.

  4. Here’s hoping Gym the Insurrectionist doesn’t have the votes.

  5. Just out of curiosity, who did McCarthy vote for?

I saw a handful of votes to reinstate him as speaker, I was curious if he voted for himself to spite Jordan, or if he fell in line with the party?

  6. Let’s see if they hold the vote at all with Jordan as the nominee or if they have to delay while the GOP picks another speaker nominee. I don’t think Jordan has the votes and he isn’t as bull-headed as McCarthy and keep holding votes he is going to lose.

  7. Best case scenario is Jim Jordan takes at least as long as McCarthy to get in, or he never gets it at all.

  8. Doubt much will change since yesterday. Jordan needs 17 of the 20 that voted for others yesterday…

  9. What does Jorden have to offer anyone to flip?

McCarthy could promise committee assignments, rule changes, etc. All thats in place already.

    Gym has nothing to give.

  10. The degenerate buffoon is currently running around making promises he has no intention of keeping.

Problem is, the people he’s lying to know it.

  11. > GOP House member opposed to Jim Jordan told me opposition to his candidacy will grow, especially if it goes to a third round — potentially 25 Rs voting against him.

    > “The opposition is organized. We’re in tight comms, unified, and growing,” the member said

I initially thought this was going to be like McCarthy’s path to the gavel, but I really don’t see it happening with Gym.

  12. I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen and I don’t like it.

  13. If Jordan bleeds votes in this first round I have to think we see a big push to make McHenry Speaker Pro Temp thru the end fo the year. I can’t imagine many of Jordan backers in the House want to continue answering questions about this shit show.

  14. Will Gym do the honorable thing and withdraw his name after losing again? Doubtful.

  15. Is threatening to ruin the careers of 20 people in your party when you have yet to been elected to anything possibly a dumb move??

  16. The house is looking more like the house of commons in the uk

  17. We need a counter of how many times Biden has told his Golda Meir story. Might be more than McCarthy has given his Crossing the Delaware speech.

  18. Ii am honestly surprised a Freedom Caucus member is even up for a Speakership, given how few they are and how much chaos they cause. Becuase I bet if they get control they remove the 1 vote rule to remove the Speaker and then hold them all hostage.

  19. Don bacons wife is getting calls accusing him of being a traitor and saying his career is over. He’s going to end up like Liz Cheney probably. I think he knows that and has nothing left to lose

  20. NBC News confirms: Before Jim Jordan’s first defeat, the wife of Republican Rep. Don Bacon received anonymous messages warning him to back Jordan’s speakership bid or risk being ousted.

One message: **”Your husband will not hold any political office ever again. Your husband will not hold any political office ever again. What a disappoint [sic] and failure he is.”**

Another: “Why is your husband causing chaos by not supporting Jim Jordan? I thought he was a team player.” @NBCNews

  21. Rep. Bacon to @NBCNews: “Jordan is headed for defeat. He’ll fight to death likely, and we won’t let off. **Their tactics angered us. They’re harassing our spouses even.** Jordan hit a brick wall.”

  22. Reading reports that Jordan camp morale is sinking is music to my ears. As of yesterday morning, it was all but certain he was going to win the votes after a couple rounds.

  23. Round 2, buckle up!

Is he really going to best the 15 rounds of failure McCarthy infamously set?

Better question: can he get maintain his (slim) chances at success by the time we get to the members of the house that have last names that start with ‘E’?
