Hahaha. Vice Chancellors would never do this – but if unions asked for Palestine protections you know damn right they’d act straight away.
Jews should not be blamed for anything happening in the Middle East. It’s sad that they are. It is only supporters of Israel that must be condemned. Israel’s self-serving designation as a Jewish ethnostate, designed to protect it against criticism for its rampant human rights abuses through invoking concerns of historic (and current) antisemitism, is endangering Jews world wide. A relatively minor transgression if compared to its campaign of ethnic cleansing, but a pretty sick and cynical one given the history of antisemitism in Europe, and hardly of comfort to the Jews feeling the impact of Israeli disgustingly misappropriating the legacy of antisemitism to help it facilitate a glacial genocide.
It seems draconian to forbid support of any political movement, but given their record, it would seem that public statements in support of either Israel or Hamas should be scrutinised heavily and support for their war crimes and human rights abuses shouldn’t be tolerated by public funded education.
