  1. Ironic, I’m sure some other folks wish that had been an available option for them before the British Museum stol-ahem-‘acquired’ this collection

  2. INB4 – iT’s all STOlEn aNYWAY

Run along teenagers, those sociology essays won’t write themselves.

  3. If I want to look at a picture of something I’ll go to fucking Argos

  4. You wouldn’t download a Rosetta Stone…

Jokes aside this is a great idea, fingers crossed it won’t be behind a paywall. Though that might be wishful thinking of the highest order.

  5. Honestly it’s staggering that it hasn’t all been digitalised yet. This has been considered best practice for museums for about 20 years now just to ensure fully detailed copies of artefacts are available should the museum burn down or something. I can get why smaller regional museums would be lagging behind on this but it’s shocking that the British Museum hasn’t already done it.

  6. I thought keeping digital records (including photographs) of everything was merely good practice, even before the recent debacle.

  7. Why not just close the entire place and make it 4k and VR? It would save cost and make it modern.
