  1. I have been hearing about the legalization of marijuana in Germany for 4 years, and they are only now starting the debates? 🤣

I know things are slow, but not quite 4 years

  2. They better legalize it, or Netherlands will keep earning all those sweet euros.

  3. Goddamn I’m supposed to go to Germany in July and I thought it would be cool by then… my decade long continuous high is gonna be interrupted, FUCK!

  4. Our pm is making smoking illegal, so I wonder what will happen when marijuana eventually becomes legal all over the world. Britain left behind or we make we corner the brownie market.

  5. I mean… what could possibly be the argument against legalizing it at this point?

  6. Hopefully in these debates the politicians take an honest look at other countries who have legalized it, like Canada. Youth usage did not really rise, awareness became better since it became less taboo to talk about. Since it’s not illegal, it’s not seen as “rebellious” of a thing to do. And most importantly, the revenue is now mostly going into our social systems instead of criminal networks.

  7. It’s so ridiculous how long this is taking.. for the western world, and the most progessive nations to legalize something that’s so common and causes no problems. I honestly wanna know at this point what it is that people are still afraid of. I haven’t met one person that has a good reason to keep it illegal other than they don’t like it.

  8. “At the same time, toxic THC concentrations are increasing. . . ”

This was coming from a proponent of legalization but I have to protest this word “toxic” with reference to THC. The human body requires endocannabinoids in order to function in a healthy manner. THC is not a toxic substance, it is a natural analog of chemicals that our bodies produce in order to maintain health. In other words, it is a supplement to normal physiology. Calling it toxic, is inappropriate no matter what your stance in legalization is.

Furthermore, THCs lack of toxicity is largely related to its weak binding affinity at the cellular receptor level. Weak binding affinity leads a substance to be referred to as a “partial agonist” of its receptors. A partial agonist cannot take over and choke off the receptors that it activates no matter how high the dosage. Such substances are naturally non-toxic due to their weak binding affinity which also creates rapid tolerance. Again, this makes such substances non-toxic.

There is no evidence of fatal overdoses from THC, period. The use of the word “toxic” here in inappropriate. Alcohol is an example of a toxic substance. Happy Octoberfest!
